The Prezi Awards Contest Official Rules 

This Contest is for entertainment purposes only. The prize has no monetary value. 

 

ELIGIBILITY: The Prezi Awards Contest (“Contest”) is open to anyone who: a. is the age of 18 years (or of the age of majority, whichever is older) during the Contest period, where such Contests are legal and do not require bonding, advertising, or registration); b. can review and understand these terms, written in English; c. has a free or paid public Prezi account any time during the Contest Period as defined in these terms (“Contestants”). Void wherever restricted or prohibited by law, including China, all embargoed countries, and wherever translation of rules to local language is required. Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives of Sponsor (as defined below), the legal, promotion and advertising agencies of any aforementioned entities, and their immediate family members and those living in their household (whether or not related), and each person or entity connected with the production or administration of the Contest, and each parent company, affiliate, subsidiary, agent and representative of any aforementioned entity are not eligible. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited. See Sponsor’s Privacy Policy at https://prezi.com/privacy-policy/. 

 

SPONSOR: Contest is sponsored by Prezi Inc., 450 Bryant Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States (“Sponsor”). 

 

TIMING: The Contest submission period begins on 12/3/2019, at 12:01 AM Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) / 8:01 AM Greenwich Mean Time (“GMT”), and ends on 1/10/2020 at 11:59 PM PST / 1/11/2020 at 7:59 AM GMT (the “Contest Submission Period”), according to Sponsor’s time clock. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED DURING THE CONTEST SUBMISSION PERIOD. 

 

AGREEMENT TO OFFICIAL RULES: By participating, Contestants agree to be bound by these official rules (“Rules”) and the decisions of the judges and/or Sponsor, which are binding and final on matters relating to this Contest. 


HOW TO ENTER: Once you have created an account, create your most interesting and creative Prezi presentation or video in English, Hungarian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, or Japanese (“Collectively, “Submission”) according to the guidelines and restrictions contained in these Rules (“Submission Guidelines and Content Restrictions”). Your Submission must be made public, and can be as fun and creative as you like within the Submission Guidelines and Content Restrictions (see below). 

 

ENTERING SUBMISSIONS. . Once you have created your Submission, follow the on-screen instructions at https://prezi.com/awards/ to upload your Submission. You must provide all required information, including your first and last name, the valid email address associated with your Prezi account, a title for your Submission, and a direct link to the Submission. All contact information provided must be current, accurate and valid. Submissions must be received no later than the end date of the Contest Submission Period at 11:59 PM PST / 7:59 AM GMT according to Sponsor’s internal time clock. No other methods of delivery will be accepted. All entries received by the end of the Contest Submission Period that are complete and otherwise qualified will be eligible to win (“Qualified Submissions”). 

 

Please note that some Prezi members are certified as presentation “Experts” through the Prezi certification program. In keeping with the fair play of the Contest, Expert Contestants will be judged separately from other Contestants for the Prezi presentation categories. Video categories will be judged collectively.

 

SUBMISSION RESTRICTIONS. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Contestant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or violating these Official Rules. Any submission of robotic, automatic, or programmed entries, or any entries submitted through other unapproved methods are void. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify false entries or entries suspected of being false or fraudulent. Sponsor is not responsible for incomplete, late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, void, corrupted, garbled, illegible, or unintelligible submissions and those Submissions are void and will not be accepted; nor is the Sponsor responsible for any problems, bugs, or malfunctions Contestants may encounter when seeking to enter their Submissions. Contestants are solely responsible for compliance with these Contest Rules and the Prezi terms and conditions. By uploading a Submission, Contestants agree that Submission conforms to the Submission Guidelines and Content Restrictions and that the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may remove the Submission and disqualify Contestant from the Contest if it believes that Submission fails to conform to the Guidelines and Restrictions. 

 

CATEGORIES. Certified Prezi Experts and Prezi registrants will be judged in separate heats.  

 

JUDGING CRITERIA: Prezi’s professional design team (“Judges”) shall judge each Qualified Submission on a 100-point scale: 

  1. Creativity and Uniqueness (30 points) 

  2. Effective use of Prezi tools (50 points) 

  3. Overall visual appeal and proper spelling and grammar (20 points)

In addition to the foregoing, Judges will be applying specific elements to the individual categories as outlined below. In the event of a tie, tied entries will be rescored giving double weight to overall visual appeal and proper spelling and grammar.

 

PREZI EXPERTS HEAT
 

- Best Overall Prezi Presentation: The Contestant with the highest overall score, as outlined in the Judging Criteria, will also effectively use the visual metaphor / design, will not overuse specific tools, such as the zoom function, and has compelling content in the presentation.  Submission must include a minimum of three path points and six pieces of content (text, images, and/or videos).
 

- Best Business Prezi Presentation: The best business Submission submitted by a Prezi Expert must be a presentation for an existing organization or company.
 

Most Innovative Use of Prezi for a Presentation: The Prezi Expert Submission that uses Prezi in the most unique way, that also meets the judging criteria.

 

PREZI MEMBERS HEAT

 

- Best Overall Design Presentation: The Contestant with the highest overall score, as outlined in the Judging Criteria, will also effectively use the visual metaphor / design, will not overuse specific tools, such as the zoom function, and has compelling content in the presentation.  Submission must include a minimum of three path points and six pieces of content (text, images, and/or videos).
 

- Best Storytelling Presentation: The Submission that tells the most compelling story from beginning to end, regardless of subject matter.
 

- Best Use of Animations Presentation: The Submission that features the most effective and creative use of the zoom feature and/or the custom starting point feature. 

 

- Best Educational Presentation: The Submission that most effectively gives an educational overview about a topic or an educational or nonprofit organization. 

 

- Best Business Presentation: The best business Submission must be a presentation for an existing organization or company.

Video Categories:

- Prezi Video: Best Overall: The Video that best captures the benefits of Prezi Video, including interacting with content, use of animations, and overall storytelling.
 

- Prezi Video: Staff Favorite: The Staff Favorite Video will be selected by the Judges based on criteria including design, visual metaphor, use of animations, and effective use of story. 

 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Submission must be in either English, French, German, Hungarian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, or Japanese. Submission must effectively communicate and showcase, in an informative, creative, legible, and compelling way, a thoughtful and engaging presentation within the perimeters of aforementioned categories and these guidelines. 

  • No Submission shall contain any legible trademark or logo, except with the owner’s prior express permission. 

  • No Submission may depict any nudity, animal or plant cruelty, harmful or illegal activity or substances, or material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion.

  • Submission must not contain material that promotes bigotry of any kind, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age. 

  • Submissions must be original works of authorship within the meaning of US copyright law, created by the Contestant who submits the entry. 

  • Contestants may not copy or otherwise use, or plagiarize the Submission from any source, nor may any images be or include third-party copyrighted material or artwork, without the copyright holder’s permission. 

  • Contestant warrants that the Submission does not infringe any third party rights, and that Contestant has obtained any necessary permissions from all relevant third parties to submit the Submission, including photographic releases for individuals pictures in the Submission. 

  • Contestant may not be, nor may Contestant use in the Submission parties who: 1) are represented under contract (e.g., by a talent agent or manager) that would limit or impair Sponsor’s ability to fully license, use, and show the Submission in any media form; 2) have an acting or modeling contract that would make their appearance in the Submission a violation of any third party rights; 3) are under a merchandising agreement; or 4) are under any other contractual relationship, including but not limited to guild and/or union memberships, that may prohibit them from participating fully in this Contest, or from allowing Sponsor to use the Submission online and in television media. 

  • Contestant must hold all rights to the entire Submission, including the right to herewith license the Submission to Sponsor, as outlined in these Rules. 

  • Contestant must secure — and finalists may be requested to submit — a written release from any actors and/or any other participant featured in the photo or video to use their name and likeness under the terms and conditions of these Official Rules. Any actors or images contained in any Submission must be properly licensed, and evidence of such may be requested by Sponsor at any time during or after the Contest Submission Period. Failure to complete releases and/or produce requested evidence of compliance shall result in disqualification. Contestant agrees to indemnify Sponsor against any and all claims from any third party for any use by Sponsor of the Submission.

  • It is not Sponsor’s responsibility to review Submissions for copyright violations, and Sponsor is not reviewing Submissions for copyright violations. Nevertheless, if, in the sole discretion of Sponsor, it is reasonably believed the Submission constitutes or may constitute copyright infringement, the Submission may be disqualified without notice to Contestant.  

  • Contestant must not enter a Submission that would prohibit Sponsor from using, royalty-free, the Submission worldwide in all media in perpetuity. 

  • No Submission shall portray Sponsor in a negative light, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. 

  • The Submission cannot have been submitted previously in a promotion of any kind or exhibited or displayed publicly through any means. 

  • Sponsor reserves the right to exclude any Submission that it believes doesn't meet the above criteria, at its sole discretion. Limit one Submission per natural person. Submissions discovered from any person or email address in excess of the stated limit will be void. Submissions generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for lost, late, stolen, damaged, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, garbled, delayed or misdirected Submissions; all of which will be void. In the event of a dispute as to any Submission, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register the Prezi account used to enter the Contest will be deemed to be the Contestant and must comply with these Official Rules. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. Each Contestant may be required to show proof of being an authorized account holder. 

 

JUDGING PERIOD.  Pursuant to the close of the Submission Period, all Qualified Submissions will be judged between 1/10/2020 and 1/24/2020 (“Judging Period”), by Qualified Judges. Sponsor may, in its discretion, choose to publicly post online or distribute (“Use”) one or more Submissions, their creator’s name and profile information for promotional, informational,  and entertainment purposes only. Selected Submissions do not positively or negatively affect a Contestant’s chances of winning. Although Submissions will be judged exactly as the Contestant submitted them, Sponsor may in its sole discretion edit any Submission prior to Using, and may imbed Sponsor’s logo or other trademarks in the Presentation. 

 

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS: On or about 7 days after the Judging Period, winners will be notified via the email address associated with the original entries (“Selected Contestants”). Selected Contestants will be required to respond (as directed) to the email notification within seventy-two (72) hours of attempted notification. The failure to respond timely to the notification may result in forfeiture of any prize and, in such case, Sponsor may choose the next highest scoring entry from among the remaining eligible entries in that category. Selected Contestants also may be sent an affidavit or declaration of eligibility / liability / publicity release (“Release”). Unless restricted by law, each Selected Contestant will be required to complete and return the Release within seventy-two (72) hours of the date notice is sent. If Selected Contestant: (i) cannot be contacted; (ii) does not respond in a timely manner; or (iii) fails to return the Release as provided herein, such Contestant forfeits all rights to receive a prize, and an alternate Contestant may be selected (up to three attempts). No other form of initial communication will constitute a winning notification. Selected Contestants are subject to verification, including verification of each Contestant’s eligibility. Acceptance of any prize shall constitute and signify each Contestant’s agreement and consent that Sponsor may use the Contestant’s name, city, state, likeness, Submission, and/or prize information in connection with the Contest for promotional, advertising or other purposes, worldwide, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, including the Internet, without limitation and without further payment, notification, permission or other consideration, except where prohibited by law. The name, profile and Submission of Selected Contestants may be announced and posted on Sponsors' website(s) and social media pages, on or before 1/28/2020 (barring unforeseen issues or delays) and may potentially be aired nationally, in Sponsors' discretion. 

 

LICENSE: As a condition of receiving any prize, and unless prohibited by applicable law, all Contestants hereby provide a One Hundred Eighty (180) day exclusive worldwide license to Sponsor after which time, and where allowed, Sponsor shall retain a perpetual non-exclusive license to use the submitted presentation in any and all media throughout the world, in perpetuity, for any purpose whatsoever, without any additional compensation, the term of which shall be the entire life of the copyright. Should any Contestant be unwilling or otherwise unable to enter into license, or provide permissions and or releases or otherwise cannot accept or receive the prize for any reason, Selected Entrant may not qualify for the prize, and a Contestant with the next highest score may be chosen from the remaining entries until one who is able to meet all requirements can be selected. Except where prohibited, all Selected Contestants must provide Sponsor with all signatures on required paperwork and return all documents in a timely manner as required pursuant to these Official Rules in order to be eligible to receive the prize. Except where prohibited, Contestants may not sell, assign or transfer any of their rights in their Submissions under these Official Rules. Contestants will not be paid for their submissions or for granting Sponsor any of these rights. While Sponsor will seek to post Submissions in the form as provided at the time of entry, all Contestants agree that due to technical or other limitations, Submissions may be altered from their original form and that Sponsor reserves the right to edit or modify the Submission in its sole discretion, including replacing any voice over, soundtrack or music or adding its logo or other trademarks. Sponsor may post Submissions in any order or sequence, with or without commentary, and may select any image from the Submission to serve as a thumbnail in its sole discretion. 

 

PRIZES: If eligible under these Official Rules, One (1) Selected Contestant in each category (ten (10) Selected Contestants total) will receive a 2019 Prezi Awards digital badge (the “Badge”) as well as a physical trophy (the “Trophy”). The Badge and the Trophy are selected and designed in Sponsor’s sole discretion and have no monetary or intrinsic value. Prizes are for personal and entertainment purposes only. Sponsor hereby grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to Selected Contestant to display the Badge on Selected Contestant’s Prezi Presentation, social media pages, website, or blog to refer to (or link to) Contestant’s winning Presentation, or to content that originates on Prezi. Selected Contestant may not use the Badge or the Trophy for commercial purposes or for any purpose that violates Prezi’s Terms of Use, as determined by Sponsor. Selected Contestant shall not modify the Badge in any way, such as by changing the design or color. Sponsor reserves the right to terminate this limited license at any time for any reason, including without limitation cancellation of Selected Contestant’s Prezi account or violation of Prezi’s Terms of Use. No substitution, transfer, or cash redemption of prize, provided however that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal or greater value should the advertised prize become unavailable for any reason. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, misdirected, or undelivered prizes. Any and all activities related to the prize are at the Selected Contestant’s own risk and subject to whatever restrictions are imposed by the entities that govern such activities. If Selected Contestant is not able or willing to accept the Trophy or any portion thereof for any reason, Trophy may be forfeited and may not be awarded. 

 

CONDITIONS: Contest is subject to these Official Rules. By participating, Contestants agree: (i) to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsors which shall be final and binding; and (ii) to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules, except where prohibited by law. By accepting a prize, Selected Contestant agrees to release Sponsor, including its parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities together with the respective directors, employees, officers, licensees, licensors and agents, and respective advertising and promotion entities and any person or entity associated with the production, judging, or administration of the Contest (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability, loss or damage arising from or in connection with awarding, receipt and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any prize-related activities. Releasees shall not be liable for: (i) internet or dial-up system, telephone or computer hardware, software or other technical or computer malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections, delays or transmission errors; (ii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry or other materials; (iii) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including death caused by the prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of a prize, or from participation in the Contest; or (iv) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any materials associated with the Contest. Sponsor disclaims any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participating in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with this Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Contest, in its sole discretion, should it receive fewer than 20 entries, or receive no entries that have a judged score above 60 points, or due to circumstances beyond its control, including natural disasters. Submissions will not be returned and may be destroyed. Sponsor may prohibit a Contestant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines such Contestant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, deception, or any other unfair playing practices of intending to annoy, abuse, threaten, undermine or harass any other players or Sponsor representatives. The internal laws of the State of California will govern disputes regarding these Official Rules and/or this Contest. Sponsor is not responsible and shall not be held liable, and Contestant’s entry may be disqualified and may not be considered for any Prize, should the Submission be removed from Prezi for any reason (including without limitation DMCA takedown). Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest should a virus, bug, computer problem, unauthorized intervention or other causes beyond Sponsors' control, corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest. Sponsor may prohibit a Contestant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines such Contestant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest in any way by cheating, hacking, deception, or any other unfair playing practices of intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other players or Sponsor representatives. Use of automated entry devices or programs is prohibited. Any attempts to access the site or enter the Contest via a bot script, device or brute-force attack will result in disqualification, including that IP address becoming ineligible for the entire Contest. Caution: any attempt to deliberately damage or undermine the legitimate operation of the contest may be in violation of criminal and civil laws and will result in disqualification from participation in the contest. Should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages (including attorney fees) to the fullest extent of the law, including criminal prosecution.  In the event of a non-waivable conflict between these Rules and specific local rules, Sponsor shall abide by local rules.

 

PUBLICITY: Except where prohibited by law, Contest Entities reserve the right to use the Submissions to the Contest for publicity purposes prior to, during, or after the Contest end date, in any media, and to use the name, likeness, hometown name, of any Contestant, including all or part of their Submission throughout the world, in perpetuity, without any compensation or prior review unless specifically prohibited by law. EU residents, who do not agree to have their name or likeness or biographical information used, will remain entitled to receive their prize. As applicable, international residents will be sent a form via email in which they can opt in to receiving promotional messages. 

 

PRIVACY: All personal information collected by Contest Entities will be used for administration of the Contest. Information that is no longer required for this Contest, or for any legal or active purpose (such as information required to open a Prezi account) will not be retained. In addition, US Contestants may receive email correspondence from, or on behalf of Sponsor subject to Sponsor’s privacy policy. Sponsor uses reasonable commercial efforts to comply with U.S. Federal CAN-SPAM guidelines, and Contestants may subsequently opt-out of receiving further emails by following the opt-out instructions contained in the email. Non-US Contestants may also receive email correspondence from, or on behalf of Sponsor subject to Sponsor’s privacy policy. Sponsor uses reasonable commercial efforts to comply with GDPR guidelines, and Contestants may subsequently opt-out of receiving further emails by following the opt-out instructions contained in the email. Please refer to Contest Entities’ privacy policy located at https://prezi.com/privacy-policy/ for important information regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by Prezi. Refer to the Sponsor’s GDPR policy, located at https://support.prezi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004089293-Prezi-and-GDPR, for details regarding Prezi’s compliance with GDPR policies.

 

INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPANTS: Access to this Contest from locations where this Contest or any of its Materials are illegal is prohibited. If Contestants access this Contest from a country not listed as eligible, their entries may be disqualified. In those countries where valid, Contestants are responsible for compliance with all local and/or international laws.
