INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING PRESENTATION

Transcript: INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING PROJECT CHILDREN TRI-CYCLE MANUFACTURING INTRODUCTION This project emphasizes on production planning of children Tri-cycle assembly process incorporating various Industrial Engineering tools and techniques such as work study, strategic capacity planning, facilities layout and Material Requirement Planning. Students shall be able to apply the theories learn in the lectures and the practical work during laboratory activities in order to complete this project. This project also stresses the importance of good team work and communication skills amongst the students. In our discussion, we had suggested that in assembly line, we should use a conveyor to transport the part from one process to the other process. The new layout when we place the conveyor as below. The process time can be improved by using a jig during the assembly process. This jig can be made from used item such as plywood and PVC. So, the cost is not too much for the company to support beside it can increase the productivity of the assembly line. PROJECT TEAM PLANNING MATERIAL REQUIREMENT PLANNING PROCESS FLOW DIAGRAM FORK INSPECTION INSPECTION DISCUSSION PROCESS LAYOUT FACILITY LAYOUT WORK STUDY PRODUCT STRUCTURE BILL OF MATERIAL CHILDREN TRI-CYCLE CAPACITY PLANNING THANK YOU GANTT CHART AND MEETING SCHEDULE As we all know, Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design, improvement and installation of integrated system of men, materials and equipment. After completing this project, we are able to describe Engineering tools and techniques in the children tri-cycle manufacturing. The tools and techniques that have been used are work system design, strategic capacity planning, process selection and facility layout and material requirement planning. Time study is used to establish standard time for a job or for an operation. Furthermore, we are able to solve application problems using IE techniques order to improve productivity. The technique used is Assembly Line Balancing (ALB). To improve line balance, we look at reducing the 100% station or the bottleneck station. This can be done by adding an operator or reducing non value added activities or waste. We also combining the 100% station or the bottleneck station with an operation in front or behind, but the sequence of the operation must be maintained. Lastly, we combine other operation to eliminate one of them. Besides, we also use jig as the holder that act as improvement method. So, the part to assembly will not easily slide and easy to maintain it state. This jig is used in assembly line. PROCESS FLOW LAYOUT CONCLUSION FORK ASSEMBLY STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

Transcript: By: Joel Mueteteke Industrial Engineering Industrial Engineers Industrial Engineers Overview • Industrial engineers apply science, math, and engineering techniques and practices to complex system integration and operations • Industrial Engineers find ways to improve production processes by creating processes and systems that improve quality, safety, and production of products/goods and services. Job Info Job Info Average Salary - The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the average annual salary for industrial engineers is $84,310 as of May 2016 Employment - Jobs for engineers is expected to show little or no change with the US Depart. Of Labor statistics projecting a difference or sum of 2100 jobs or a 1% change in employment from 2014-24 - Because Industrial engineers don’t specialize in one area of work, they are involved/employed in a variety of industries (Ex: Manufacturing, Research and development, etc.) . This is due to the fact that their main area of focus is on reducing internal costs, and making their job an important asset for many industries Education - To become an industrial engineer, the minimum education required is a bachelor’s degree commonly in Industrial Engineering. However, some industrial engineers have degrees in other fields of engineering (electrical, mechanical, etc.). Job Environment - Industrial Engineers may work indoors, outdoors or in a hands-on environment depending on the industry that they are part of. Benefits Benefits -Helps improve and create profitable business practices while increasing customer care and quality - Increases competition, profit, and minimizes resource expenditure and requirements. -This profession doesn’t consume time and can be modified to fit the schedule of a company or organization. - Good organization and improves production, these eliminate some of the potential frustrations of life and are key to the long-term stability and prosperity of a business and/or organization. -Improved ability to do more with limited resources - Decreased production/manufacturing time thus allowing people to get their product in less time. -Assistance and guiding society and business on how to care for the workforce and improving the bottom-line - Showing ways to improve work environments, efficiencies, and teaching ergonomics - Making the world safer through improved design of products and easier use of product(s) -Reducing costs associated with new technologies, in effect, it allows more people to improve their quality of life by being able to afford new technologies Real World Applications Real World Applications List of Industries that incorporate industrial Engineering - hospitals - communications - e-commerce - entertainment - government - finances - food - pharmaceuticals - semiconductors - sports - insurance - sales - accounting - banking - travel - transportation.
