FREE OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE User can run the software (proprietary software) Source code is available to user Multiple users on multiple machines are allowed User can modify the source code User can redistribute the software Ability to inspect source code: because open source licenses mandate source code availability, it is easy to study the product’s code and learn from it. Ability to modify source code: Licenses also allow users to modify the source code. Anyone can add new functionality that better meets user needs.
