Transcript: The two major themes we found, were the young boy loves his Xbox SO much that he wants to MARRY IT! The second major theme is that, the young boy LOVES video games. Hyperbole is the use of exaggeration for effect. Hyperbole is used in line 11 and 12 when Kenn Nesbitt says: ''Your names are etched inside my mind in everlasting ink''. I think the author used hyperbole in this poem to make it seem like he played so many video games, that all the character's names are stuck in his head. Poem Xbox, Xbox, you're the one for me. I also love my 3DS and my Nintendo Wii. GameCube, GameBoy, Apple iPod Touch. I never thought that I would ever be in love this much. Pac-Man, Sonic, Mario, and Link. Your names are etched inside my mind in everlasting ink. Run, jump, flip, hang, double-jump, and climb. That's all I want to do with every second of my time. This is true love. Yes, it's plain to see. Xbox, Xbox, will you marry me? --Kenn Nesbitt Marking Up The Poem For Content This poem has 5 stanzas. In all stanzas there are the same amount of lines (4). Identify Two Types of Imagery In this poem we found rhyming, personification, and hyperbole. Rhyming is the use of words whose endings sound alike. Rhyming is used in line 2 and 4 when Kenn Nesbitt says: ''you're the one for me''. I think the author used rhyming in this poem to portray his love for video games. Personification is the use of associating human characteristics to non-human objects. Personification is used in line 20 when Kenn Nesbitt says: '' will you marry me ?''. I think the author used personification in this poem to make it seem like he really loves the Xbox. One type of imagery found in this poem is body imagery like when the author writes "Your names are etched inside my mind in everlasting ink."Another type of imagery that we discovered is colour imagery, like when the author writes "Yes, it's plain to see." Marking Up The Poem For Form The poem's tone/mood is playful. In addition, Kenn Nesbitt engages readers by using the names of video game characters and video game consoles. Xbox, Xbox By: Harsh and Andrei The Poem's Message Identify The poem's Mood/Tone The message of this poem is: don't do too much of something or you'll fall in love with it. Identify Two Major Themes
