Transcript: Where do I see myself in 3 years time? work experience presentation Alot of the magazines I contacted were through "gothinkbig.co.uk" This is a great website for young people trying to get experience, the whole process was very easy. I also emailed magazines directly stating who I was and what I wanted. Indeed.com was also very helpful in finding media opportunities. What would I do differently and what do I plan to do in summer? Grazia magazine Closer magazine Heat magazine Elle magazine CoventGarden.com Nails and Brows Secret Brunch Flannels Fashion Who did i contact? I adapted my CV to make it more suitable to applying for media based roles. This meant including more media skills such as Wordpress and microsoft as well as adding any relevant media work experience I may have. I contacted magazines mainly as that is the area of journalism I'd like to go into. I feel that is where my main skills are as I love writing so a placement at a magazine is more relevant for me. I also applied for social media internships as that experince would be very helpful with the multimedia side to journalism. Why did I contact these companies in particular? How did I contact them? In 3 years time I will have hopefully graduated will a respectful grade. I also aim to have completed work experience in a media area although more specifcally the magazine industry. I will also hopefully be on my way to gaining a job as a sub-editor/collumist/reporter/writer. I will continue to apply for work experience as alot of companies have certain time slots for work experience. I know that cosmopoliton magazine do their placements seasonly so I plan to apply in summer. Communication wise theres not much I could have done differently as most companies prefer online application and some even state no phone calls. CV?
