I didn't know, just how crazy it would be. Academically, it did get frustrating. The homework I hated most... But i was expecting impossible, so it wasn't unsurvivable Web 2.0 Tools-Prezi, google docs weebly, mail Microsoft office tools-Publisher, word, PowerPoint windows movie maker and photostory Effective communication via email and chat Useing scanners and printers simple trouble shooting Using online newsources or school I'm am creating this storybook as part of something called BASE Project. Eighth grade shadow day, the first thing someone said to me, was a question. "Why are you so smiley" At the time this question seemed ridiculous to me, why wouldn't i be. Why would you not want to take every moment of your life and make it a happy one? So I answered with a smile, shrug of my shoulders "Do i need a reason?" Another question, "What grade are you in?" "8th" "Ohh......" and with that she walked away and i never saw her again. I wanted to go against every stereotype, I wanted to prove something to myself. I'm still trying. Not to be defined by the crowd around me. I'm myself, just me. Not a freshmen, tom boy, girly girl, geek, popular, jock, crazy teen.... I'm just me. So, i like football, basketball, plays, shakespear, ballet, music of all kinds. I love wearing dresses and heels but i also love ripped pants, ripped shirts, wild colored hair dye, black leather boots, tennies, tank tops, sun dresses, short shorts, jeans, work boots.... i could go on forever, well not literally but hey, i like most styles I've come across. A kid in a candy store, how to pick? For me the answers easy. Don't! so what stereo type am I? Weirdo, i think is the closest i think anyone's ever come. Why is that a bad thing? Exactly! It isn't. High school, Happy then sad then angry at the world then the feeling that i'm barely hanging on, metaphor- in the dark hanging above pit certain death waiting for me at the bottom, the only thing holding me up my sore hands clinging to barb wire, hope and my refusal to give up was my last reserve of strength, then i was just waiting for the end knowing i could make it but too tired to keep up an act. Now I'm here the worlds not easy or fair and I'm just pushing to get my future and to make the best of every day i get. So if you can take something away from this just know, "you only live life once, so live it to the fullest." - unknown My Story Book I was born 1:01pm, April 9th, 1997. It's been a little while sense then, i'm in high school now. I've watched the world change and grow, its hard to believe i've only been alive for 15 years. Life has been lets say "interesting" so far. I have been hurt i have felt joy. The main causes of these feelings would have to be the people around me, the people I would do anything to protect "from others and myself" no matter how much they hurt me. At the moment life is crazy. Pushing past unruly hormones, i'm just trying to build my future. Senor Sancho sighed, "Then i guess I'll do it myself" And with that Enrique scurried off Once he paid the merchant for his jalapenos, Senor Sancho trotted down the dirt trail toward his house to pick onion from his garden. He was making his salsa for a party for him and his friends. Nina shook her head, "I am sorry Senor Sancho, but I have to practice my dance for the parade tomorrow" “We are not good friends..” Enrique said sadly “It’s alright my friends! Apologies accepted! I almost forgot the reason I made this salsa,” senor Sancho said smiling to his friends "I am picking fresh tomatoes for my salsa, would you like to help? "Hola Enrique" Senor Sancho smiled. “This salsa was made to be shared with friends in tomorrow’s parade,” Senor Sancho said sadly. A storyline by Hannah Garcia There lived a donkey named Senor Sancho He scuffed his hoof on the dirt road in order to get Enrique's attention And with that, Senor Sancho’s salsa was better than ever. He heard a knock at the door “Senor Sancho we are so sorry for not helping!” Sonya said. I need to hurry up and make my salsa!" Said Senor Sancho "Very well, I will pick them by myself" Pouring his now finished salsa into a bowl he heard one more knock at the door. "What are you doing?" When he was finished Senor Sancho galloped over to the market place to purchase spicy green jalapenos That’s when senor Sancho gathered up all his friends in his home that evening Something was all wrong. Senor Sancho frowned He chopped and blended and stirred util it was all done. Sancho was finally all alone with his salsa. He found a chip and ate a bite Senor Sancho's salsa “Hola senor Sancho! I could smell your salsa all the way at my house.” Nina said smiling licking her lips. and with that he shut the door, leaving Sonya to sadly scuttle back to her motorcycle. "Sorry Nina but no helping with the dip, no dipping the chip! He said quickly locking the door on a shocked Nina. "Dios mio! It's almost Cinco de Mayo, came by. Senor Sancho set down the bag of jalapenos he was holding in his mouth. "I am sorry Senor Sancho, I have to clean my motorcycle" explained Sonya "I am very sorry Senor Sancho but I have to polish my boots." “it was made to share with friends!” I am carrying these jalapenos back to picking onions from my garden. Would you like to help?" "Why I am buying jalapenos for my salsa, would you like to help me choose some fresh ones?" "Hola Senor Sancho!" Enrique tipped his cowboy hat "Buenos tardes, Senor Sancho! What are you doing?" Sonya asked. "Hola Senor Sancho! I just finished cleaning my motorcycle and I smelt your amazing salsa! Senor Sancho turned his head away and said, “sorry Sonya but no helping with the dip, no dipping the chip". To find his friend.. Sonya skittered away and Senor Sancho finished picking the rest of the tomatoes In a tiny little village near Mexico city.. Sorry Enrique but no helping with the dip, no dipping the chip!" Senor Sancho said pushing Enrique out and slamming the door. "Buenos tardes Sonya!" Everything was perfect, there wasn't an ingredient he had forgotten. Then he realized... They all crowed around the table and gobbled up the salsa, and told stories, and laughed throughout the evening.

Transcript: \ In a very real sense, each of us has been given an invisible golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, family, friends and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold. The little girl looked up at him with sad tears rolling from her eyes and whispered: "Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was all full." As money was tight, he became even more upset when on Christmas Eve he saw that the child had used all of the expensive gold paper to decorate one shoebox she had put under the Christmas tree. Once upon a time, there was a man who worked very hard just to keep food on the table for his family. This particular year a few days before Christmas, he punished his little five-year-old daughter after learning that she had used up the family's only roll of expensive gold wrapping paper The Gold Wrapping Paper But when he opened the shoebox, he found it was empty and again his anger flared. "Don't you know, young lady," he said harshly, "when you give someone a present, there's supposed to be something inside the package!" By; Samantha Porras Whenever he was discouraged or faced difficult problems, he would open the box, take out an imaginary kiss, and remember the love of this beautiful child who had put it there. I He also was concerned about where she had gotten money to buy what was in the shoebox. Nevertheless, the next morning the little girl, filled with excitement, brought the gift box to her father and said, "This is for you, Daddy! An accident took the life of the child only a short time later. It is told that the father kept this little gold box by his bed for all the years of his life. The father was crushed. He fell on his knees and put his arms around his precious little girl. He begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger. As he opened the box, the father was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, now regretting how he had punished her.

Transcript: When the Natives Fought Back 4 Meanwhile back home... Columbus came home and told the king and queen of Spain what happened and was sent to go home, his face down in shame. He was the laughing stock of the whole eastern hemisphere! While others worried, what would happen? Will the Natives be peaceful and want to form alliances or will they attack and have complete world power? To answer this, Spain sent a small ship over to the new land to create a peace treaty. They did not want to have another embarrassing voyage. 8 When the crew separated, the Natives saw it as their chance to attack and so they used their skills of archery and knowledge of the land and attacked the crew. The crew didn't see it happening at all and before they can reach for their guns, the Natives had Columbus hostage. Because of this, the crew was forced to surrender and give over everything they had to the Natives, guns, animals, food, one prisoner, and one boat. Then the crew was allowed to go back home and tell their countries about the Natives and how powerful they will become. 9 5 6 The peace treaty worked very well for the Natives, the Spanish, English, and the rest of the eastern hemisphere. English men came to Keiseria in order to teach the Natives how to build ships, weapons, and introduce them to new crops and animals. In return the Natives traded corn, potatoes, and other vegetables that the eastern hemisphere never heard of before. Keriseria grew into a prosperous land and had good relations across the seas. 7 Keiserisa: The Natives saw Columbus' ships from far away and scrambled to create a plan. They knew the land better than anyone else so they decided to hide. As Columbus and his men got off their ships and explored the land, they didn't see anyone else so they thought that they had discovered a new and wonderful land. What they didn't know was that the Natives were hiding in the bushes, waiting to attack. 2 When Christopher Columbus came to America in 1492, he thought he could do whatever he wanted and no one was there to stop him, what he didn't think was that there were Native American tribes there and all the tribes would band together to fight for their lives and home. They all came together and ran Columbus and his crew back home with a message: do not take the Natives' lands. They continued to grow into a great civilization that was far more advanced than the rest of the world. The Natives were hard at work, creating a new system of leadership. The people's voices were heard by the tribal leaders and everyone worked together to make a prosperous land. One day when the hunters were out getting game, they saw a ship off the coast. At first they were tense, ready to sound the battle call, but then they saw a white flag and thought it meant purity, like their mascot, a white bunny. So they called the tribal leaders and waited on the shore for the ship, weapons in hand but ready to communicate. As Spain's ships came to shore, the leaders stepped out first and met the spokespeople from Spain. The first thing the spokespeople said was, "We want no harm. Only peace." Slowly extending a hand. The tribal leaders looked at each and the same idea came to all of them. Peace with Spain could only do good things. So one by one each tribal leader extended a hand. The Natives decided that coming together and combining all the different tribes would make them stronger and more powerful. So they all banded together to form one tribe: Keiseria. They began to study the weapons they took and learned how they worked. They studied the horses and made them mate so the horses could multiply. They learned how to grow more crops and since their soil was so good, they had an abundant supply. They treated the one prisoner as a fellow comrade, and learned English through him. And when it came time to create a new leader, they decided to have all the former leaders of the different tribes come together and work along side each other to make decisions for the group as a whole. And they decided they needed a fearless mascot, something everyone would be able to recognize, so they picked a white furry bunny, white to symbolize the purity of the new tribe and furry-ness to showcase the might of their fighters. 3 Introduction Nhi Nguyen 5th period With the help of the Spanish and English, the Native Americans became a rich country. They continued to trade back and forth with the rest of the western hemisphere and never came to war with anyone. They were the first to build a skyscraper out of clay and bricks, first to create the telephone, and first to create a submarine. However, the Natives didn't keep it to themselves, they shared their knowledge and wealth with the rest of the world.
