Transcript: My topic was to see how software and hardware development can help teach elementary level math. I chose this topic because there are many companies that have this type of software available, but it is expensive and costly. An interesting thing that I found during my research is the amount of technology students and teachers actually use in their daily lives. For my product, I decided to create my own Math Program through Visual Basic. My program will run through random Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division problems. My program also records a student's first and last name, their number of correct and incorrect, and their average. You are also able to change which exercise they would like to do. I decided to make this program for my product because I have taken a few high school courses that had Visual Basic in it and I was able to utilize it to make a program. Since the product required 20 hours of work I have been worked every Saturday for six months for two hours a session to complete this product. While working on my project, many things went well including the creation of the program. Since I have taken a Visual Basic class in high school before, I was able to start the program with ease. I started by creating several different design layouts and saw which one would work the best. Throughout the course of working on my Graduation Project, I learned many things. I have learned a lot about my topic, but the most important things I learned were about myself. I learned that with hard work and effort, anything can be accomplished. Also I have learned that I have a lot of patience and dedication because the coding part of my program takes hours upon hours to complete. My time management skills were also vastly improved. Research Cont. Successes and Failures Successes and Failures Cont. Throughout the process, my mentor Mrs. Danieley helped me out. I chose her because she has a strong work ethic and I knew that she would not let me fall behind on my work and help me with time management. Successes and Failures Cont. Successes and Failures Cont. Topic During my time at Western Alamance, I have been apart of the Science Club, Robotics Club, WA Capella, Tech Club and Musical. I have worked part time at my parent's convenient store in Greensboro. Also I have been my youth group's praise band leader for 4 years. About Me Some of the difficult part of this project was mainly time management and the program. Although I had a planned schedule while creating the program, many events kept getting in the way of me working on my product. Product Cont. Overall Learning Experience Another thing that went well while completing my project was finding all the information needed. Since I was able to use the internet, there were a lot of sources online that I was able to receive information from. Product Also the coding in my program was very difficult because when I ran into a problem, I would spend a large amount of time trying to figure what was wrong. In the end, I would end up changing one line of code and everything would fix itself. In order to find my information, I had to search the web, visit the library, and ask several teachers. Searching the web was the easiest to find information because the many websites such as .gov, .edu, and .net provide factual information. Also mostly everyone is connect to the internet and can share their information on the web. Product Cont. Research

Transcript: Most people can probably agree but when I say I had trouble with typing, I HAD trouble with typing. Some of you are saying no, I had more trouble than you, well, you're wrong. You were on level 12 when I was still on level 1. I was probably still looking for the "T" key. Conclusion Everybody has some weeknesses and there are many ways to overcome them. Sonme people though just do aveage and don't try to get any better. Then however if you don't try to get better than whats the point of trying at all. What im saying is that if you don't try to succeed at anything than you won't do anything at all. Even the little things like maybe getting to level 50 in Black Ops in 2 hours. You should just try at anything and everything you're interested in aND you'll do just fine. Body P's Intro In third grade everybody was assigned big project to make your own model dream house and we had to write a short essay on why we chose it. It was only supposed to take 20-30 minutes but I took 45-60 minutes. I had to ask one of my parents to help type for me. I tried hard but typing was just another one of my weeknesses. I couldn't over come it so I just said that if i do my best then maybe some day I will be able to type faster like many others could. That was really all it was about. Being able to be as good as everyone around me and even better. Then you don't reach any goals. You think, like i did, as long as i'm better than some else i don't need to do any more work andyou just leave it at that. Typing It was all throughout the learning of typing that I struggled. Not for just one year but for all. Some people say if you try hard enough, you will get to your goal. Yeah well, i was trying but nothing was happening. I was the memorizing that I couldn't do, i was fast enough but i just couldn't memorize it, kind of like studying. Remember in Elementary School when we had to learn how to type on the computer? Well that was the thing that i liked least. Not math or reading but typing on the computer. I think for most of us this is true. There was no skill to have to be able to type. Fast hands? Good button pushing skills? No. The only way you might have a chance at being able to type at a good speed then was if you practiced when you were little.
