Transcript: Satellite by: "You can't feel the heat until you hold your hand over the flame You have to cross the line just to remember where it lays You won't know your worth now, son, until you take a hit And you won't find the beat until you lose yourself in it!" We wont change or do something until we absolutely have to. We put whats right off until the very end to fix it, some don't even change, even if being forced. They fall off the cliff of change what life and society puts before them. After looking at the overall lyrics we can possibly depict a story from the song. First the song introduces a guy who has had a rough life, and has never been given a break or the littlest comfort, especially by his own government. He starts to believe in revolt and uprising to fix those who had wronged him, and those around him. Then the picture shifts, he meets a girl, a good friend, a lover, whomever she may be, the lyrics change, his plans change. No longer is revolt the question, but becoming an American Refugee is the new option he takes to mind, to start a new life, without these wrongs being put upon him. This song was premiered on their newest album, Endgame. This last and ending statement pretty much tells us that we were given rights and certain things when our country was founded, and that we should be able to keep these rights; and maintain them on our own accord, not by somebody else's will. From these lyrics, we can tell that the writer believes people are being oppressed, because they don't know what it's like to be them. The line of whats right and wrong is constantly being adjusted, just to test the limit that it can take. With these lyrics, we can tell that the writer believes we should fight for whats right, and not just let it happen around us, fix whats wrong, and fix what goes against our beliefs. "That's why we won't back down We won't run and hide Yeah, 'cause these are the things that we can't deny I'm passing over you like a satellite So catch me if I fall That's why we stick to your game plans and party lives But at night we're conspiring by candlelight We are the orphans of the American dream So shine your light on me" "Because we won't back down We won't run and hide Yeah, 'cause these are the things that we can't deny I'm passing over you like a satellite 'cause these are the things that we can't deny now This is a life that you can't deny us now" "You can't fill your cup until you empty all it has You can't understand what lays ahead If you don't understand the past You'll never learn to fly now 'Til you're standing at the cliff And you can't truly love until you've given up on it" The album was released on March 15, 2011 "She told me that she never could face the world again So I offered up a plan We'll sneak out while they sleep And sail off in the night. We'll come clean and start over the rest of our lives. When we're gone we'll stay gone. Out of sight, out of mind. It's not too late, We have the rest of our lives." (Repeats) That's why we won't back down We won't run and hide Yeah, 'cause these are the things that we can't deny I'm passing over you like a satellite So catch me if I fall That's why we stick to your game plans and party lives But at night we're conspiring by candlelight We are the orphans of the American dream So shine your light on me
