Praying for Others

Transcript: Question The "Welcoming Others" Series What does praying for protection of others look like in your life? God wants us to seek Him in prayer. A constant love is a sense of a lifestyle. Helping Others Question What about you? 20 “I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in me through their word. 21 May they all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us, so that the world may believe you sent me. 22 I have given them the glory you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me, so that they may be made completely one, that the world may know you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me. John 17:11-16 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 I sanctify myself for them, so that they also may be sanctified by the truth. Praying For Others Unleashes the power of God. John 17:17-19 When has someone stepped up when you really needed help? What can we do? 11 I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by your name that you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I was protecting them by your name that you have given me. I guarded them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture may be fulfilled. 13 Now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy completed in them. 14 I have given them your word. The world hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I am not praying that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. John 17:11-23 Matthew 6:11 Being sanctified implies being set apart exclusively for God's service. John 17:20-23 Give us today our daily bread. Superman can do so much! Transcript: Music Go to God on behalf of others. PROTECTION "Give us this day our daily bread." Matthew 6:11b John 17:11-16 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Pray for those in difficult situations Pray for those serving when life seems easy Pray for family and friends Let's Discuss What ways do you pray for the protection of others? Physical Needs Spiritual Needs Emotional Needs Financial Needs Relational Needs Pray for others: Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. John 17:17-19 SPIRITUAL GROWTH His Word cleansed/cleanses us His Word grows us His Word equips us We are sanctified (holy) through what HE DID on the cross. We are sanctified (set apart) when WE OBEY His word. Sanctify: to set apart as or declare holy; consecrate What has God used/using in your life to help you grow spiritually? Let's Discuss My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. John 17:20-23 UNITY Categorize your requests: Create a prayer list under three columns: PROTECTION, SPIRITUAL GROWTH, and UNITY. Under each column, list individuals or groups for whom you can pray. Ask Others: Contact friends and family by phone, email, or text. Ask them how you can be praying for specifically for them. Pray Together: Meet with others in your group for a season of prayer; a time of praying for unity among believers and local churches. Live It Out Live it Out

Praying For Humility:

Transcript: Is it hard to show humbleness? Do you sometimes feel like you deserve more? If so, how do you fix it? Do you think others need to humble themselves? Parable 1:Read Matthew 20:1-16 Parable 2:Read Luke 14:7-11 Parable 3:Read Luke 18:9-14 Parables Napoleon Bonaparte 1a. In the story about the workers in the vineyard, was the landowner unfair in not paying those who worked all day a higher wage? 1b. Who might the last group of workers represent? How important is this to our understanding of the meaning of the parable. 2. Restate in your own words the main point of Jesus' teaching in Luke 14:7-11 Napoleon was born in Corsica, an island of the coast of France. He attended a military academy, when has 16 yrs. old(although he wasn't outstanding). But soon after at the age of 30, he became ruler of France. But all that power soon rushed to his head. He wanted complete control of Europe. But in result he failed and died without his wife & or son by his death bed at the age of 52. In the homework you did last night,(or whenever you did it) you read about praying for humility.... Well what is humility? What is Humility? Praying For Humility: Humility is a modest or low view of one's own importance; humbleness. Introduction Thinking it Through Conclusion 3a. In the parable of the Pharisee & the tax collector, what kind of person does the Pharisee represent? 3b. What did the Pharisee in the parable ask for in prayer? Did God give it to him? 3c. What did the tax collector ask for, and did God answer his prayer? How do you know? 4. Why does the second part of Luke 18:14 sound familiar? When you need help to humble yourself, talk to your friends, teachers, parents, and God. It may seem awkward at first, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. They're always there for you. So as you go on to summer vacation, never forget to show humbleness. Questions Thinking is Through Continued

Praying For Rain

Transcript: Praying for Rain By Robert Lewis Vaughan Synopsis Synopsis Marc is an 18 year old athlete that gets into a crippling motorcycle accident, meaning he can't play any sports anymore. From then he spirals into a bad crowd and gets suspended in after school detention with Ms. K for trying to sell a gun to a 13 year old boy with his bad influence friends, Chris and Jim. His constant self destruction causes a life changing tragic event that would change his view forever. Themes Themes 2 constant themes demonstrated through the show are... -the effects of teen and gun violence -emphasizing the importance of communicating and appreciating those around you for the time being. Set ideas Set Ideas (show everyone the sketched out set layout) Significant Moments Significant Moments The first scene I am excited to work with is not really one scene. I am excited about the unspoken situations or transitions that happen. There is a point where Ms. K and Marc are talking and Chris and Jim just suddenly watch them talk and the judgment is shown. But also at the same time, there is a picnic between Liz and Brian. However, when the couple enters, Chris looks at only them while Jim is still focused on Marc. This foreshadows the impact that this couple will have on Chris, which leads him to take his own life. Then later in the scene, Jim crawls toward the couple and circle them like a shark about to attack his prey. Number 1 The second moment that I would like to block is the fight scene between Chris, Jim, and Brian. Although it’s more of a beating scene instead of a fight, there is still struggle with Brian and he attempts to escape the torture. This scene is extremely important because it shows the inner dynamic between Jim, Chris, and Marc. It shows Marc’s growth and how he chose to leave the scene and not participates although he does shove Brian once at the beginning. It also needs to show a bit of hesitance or guilt with Chris. Not extremely noticeable but enough to know that Jim is leading the beating. And finally, you need to show Jim’s crazy eyes that are unable to stop once he has started beating Brian. Number 2
