(Angelini et al., 2010) References: Articles in the periodicals What does APA mean? APA dictates that authors are named: Last name, then initials. Publication year (which goes in parentheses) followed by a period. The title of the article is in sentence-case, which means that only the first word and proper nouns are capitalized. The periodical title is run, and is followed by the volume number which is also italicized. If a DOI has been assigned to the article, you should include it after the page number (In the case that a DOI is no assigned and you are using an online periodical, include the URL). APA citation

There are a few similarities and difference between APA and MLA Some examples are: Easiest thing to do is use a citation creator and double check (just like for MLA) Your abstract should address ALL of the following items: your research topic research questions participants methods results data analysis and conclusions This is an example for a book. Just like MLA you need to cite your sources. Only instead of a "Works Cited" page it is called a "Reference Page." Similarities References Differences Your headings would vary depending on what your paper is about. The Main Body of your paper should also be double spaced and follow the same formatting as your abstract. The main difference between MLA and APA is that APA has headers. These headers separate your paper into different sections. The order and requirements Must cite all sources (both in text and at the end) Paper is double spaced Citations are listed alphabetically Smoothly integrated quotes. Transcript: What is APA? APA is one of many referencing styles used in academic writing. APA stands for American Psychological Association. The Association outlines the style in the Publication manual of the American Psychological Association [APA] (6th ed.). Indicating within your assignment the sources of the information you have used to write your assignment. This demonstrates support for your ideas, arguments and views. Sometimes this is referred to as: citing in text, in text citations or text citations FIRST SECOND The second part to referencing is the construction of a reference list. The reference list shows the complete details of everything you cited and appears in an alphabetical list on a separate page, at the end of your assignment. Water is a necessary part of every person’s diet and of all the nutrients a body needs to function, it requires more water each day than any other nutrient (Whitney & Rolfes, 2011). Even though you have put someone else’s ideas or information in your own words (i.e. paraphrased), you still need to show where the original idea or information came from. This is all part of the academic writing process. When citing in text within an assignment, use the author/s (or editor/s) last name followed by the year of publication. Example for REFERENCE LIST Talty, S. (2009). The illustrious dead: The terrifying story of how typhus killed Napoleon's greatest army. New York, NY: Crown. How to write reference list? Author: Talty, S. Begin with last name first, abbreviate first and middle names (if applicable). End with a period. Year of Publication: (2009). In parentheses, list the year of publication, which appears on the title page or the title page verso (back side of title page). Follow the parentheses with a period. Title & subtitle of the book: The illustrious dead: The terrifying story of how typhus killed Napoleon's greatest army. The title and subtitle are separated by a colon. Capitalize only the first word of the title and subtitle and all proper nouns or names. Italicize the title and end with a period. Place of publication: New York, NY: List the city and state of the publisher's location. Use the standard postal abbreviations for states. For publishers outside the United States list the city and country. Separate place from publisher with a colon. If more than one city is given, use the first city listed or, if specified, the name of the publisher's home office. Separate from publisher with a colon. Ex. = Duluth, MN: Publisher: Crown. Shorten publisher's name to most concise form. End the citation with a period. 6TH EDITION There are two main parts to referencing: Example for citations: (parenthetical or text citations) BY: Saji Aia Mallari THANK YOU FOR LISTENING :) APA FORMAT
