Transcript: Pink Hydrangeas Symptoms Optimum pH The soil acidifier helps to lower the pH level in the soil. The acidifier is used to help achieve the blue color in the hydrangea. - Must be applied several times throughout the growing season Tina Nguyen, Anna Lopatina, Anton Carlestam Fertilizer The type of fertilizer used is important because different fertilizers have different characteristics and different components so the fertilizer should be picked according to what type of plant it is for. - We have learned about how pH relies on ionic product of water (kw) - We have learned about acids and base Blue Hydrangeas Fertilizer For the flower to turn blue, the aluminum has to be added to the soil. Global warming causes a chlorosis epidemic in plants and affects the pH of soil and freshwater resources. Different types of fertilizer affects the color change of hydrangea - Low in Phosphorus and high in Potassium help produce blue hydrangea - Rate of 25/5/30 - High in Phosphorus helps produce pink hydrangea - Rate of 25/10/10 Hydrangea Evergreen Plants How does this relate to what we’re doing in class? Effects Higher pH = more chlorotic The optimum pH level has to be low - 5.2 – 5.5 - Inorder for aluminum to be available for the plant, the hydrogen level has to be low or else it cancels out the presence of aluminum in the soil Starts paling More yellow indicates more serious conditions Evergreen Plants -Effects the organs - The lack of iron - Unhealthy roots and poor drainage pH level Chlorosis - yellowing of a leaf tissue - due to lack in chlorophyll - causes: - damaged roots, poor drainage, compacted roots, high alkalinity, and nutrient dficiencies Soil Acidifier For the Hydrangeas to change the color from blue to pink the aluminum has to be subtracted from the soil. The optimum pH, for the flower to turn pink, should be 6.0 to 6.2, because hydrangeas take up aluminum best at lower pH levels, so raising the level of pH will slower down the whole process.

Transcript: Hydrangea By:Daniel Moeller Hydrangea Where they grow They grow in southern and eastern Asia and North and South America. Life Span Hydrangeas are long-lived shrubs, sometimes living for up to 50 years if properly cared for. Best Growth Season Most new growth hydrangeas put on buds in early summer to bloom in the following spring. How they Look Wide leaves have ridged edges and are soft to the touch. Leaves They have long stems with the flowers at the end. Stem Roots Roots are shallow and and remain in the top 6 inches of soil. Flowers Flowers bloom in a round cluster of small flowers. Colors vary from white, pink, blue change due to acidity, higher makes them blue. Fruit/Seed Hydrangeas produce tiny seeds when they bloom and you can collect them after the blooms fade and dry out. Soil They live best in rich moist soil, with different levels of acid to control the color of the flowers. Reproduction Hydrangeas produce seeds and it's root system produces underground stems that sprout. Special Uses The roots and under ground stems are used to make medicines for infections of the prostate, and to treat kidney stones. Five Interesting Facts a. You can control the color of the flowers with the acidity of the soil. b. The root systems has underground stems that sprout out of the ground and spread the plant. c. The roots can be used for medicine. d. There are 75 different variations of hydrangeas. e. The seeds are very tiny but produce a large flowering plant. https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-663/hydrangea https://www.baycityflower.com/growers/roots.html https://www.almanac.com/plant/hydrangeas https://plantaddicts.com/growing-hydrangeas-from-seed/ https://www.britannica.com/science/rhizome THANK YOU

Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.
Transcript: Hydrangea Sienna, Riley, Callie 22/5/2023 About Hydrangea Hydrangea is a nation dedicated to respect, trust, and the value of others. They accept everyone regardless of race, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or ethnicity. The only things that Hydrangea does not tolerate are hate, violence, and crime. They vow to live a life of peace and harmony with nature. About Environment The environment is tropical where everyday is perfect weather. 37 degreees fahrenheit in the winter and 86 degrees fahrenheit in the summer, but because of the humidity, it always feels warmer. The majority of the land is made up of tropical rainforests, but there is some land cleared for farming. The most common animals you will see there are tropical reptiles such as frogs, geckos, and snakes. Predators are rarely seen outside the jungle and do not bother the people or their pets. Environment Map Government Government Hydrangea is a monarchy with a queen named Amaryllis. Every three years representatives from each section come together and discuss how the culture has changed in each section, then the Queen decides to change or keep laws. There are 6 representatives from each section. There are a hundred randomly selected candidates from each section and the top six go to the meeting, this is done to keep any one person from controlling a section. Flag Flag Laws Laws Since Hydrangea is so dedicated to treating everyone with kindness and respect, the laws also follow those same morals. The levels of offense are separated into three categories: Minor (fine/up to 5 years in prison), Medial (5-20 years in prison), and Major (50 years-life in prison). No death penalty is inflicted upon any prisoner. Instead, the prison officers focus more on rehabilitation. There are daily group therapy sessions, as well as “calming” rooms and one-on-one therapy sessions. Currency Currency The currency of Hydrangea is shaped like cartoon flowers. There are pink, yellow, and white coins. The coins are called Seeds, Sprouts, and Blooms. Blooms, the pink, are worth the most (worth $10). Seeds, white, are worth the least (worth $1). Sprouts, yellow, are in the middle of the price range (worth $5). Pictures 10 basic laws/rules Hate against a specific group of people will be punished severely Cars will only be electric, no gasoline The consumption of meat is illegal Electronic devices are only allowed inside buildings Poaching is immediately equal to life in jail Deforestation is immediately equal to life in jail Education is required through 12th grade Hospitals may not require a payment for their service Acts of violence are not tolerated, no matter how small it is Littering will be sentenced to an amount of years in prison 10 rules Education School weeks are four day weeks and the school days are from 9 to 2. The children are exposed to a variety of arts forms, as well as math, science, and farming. College is free, as is healthcare. Colleges also vary depending on what section they are in; just like Harvard and Yale are elite colleges in America, there are elite colleges in different sections which focus on that specific art/business. Education Transportation Transportation People mostly do not have cars because of their history with technology, so everyone uses bikes, skate, walk/run/jog, or sooters, but the most common transportation is by horse. There are a lot of horse stables around the island. When people need to travel far they will use a electric vehicle that is kept in the city. There are only electric vehicles because gasoline is not good for the environment. Using electric vehicles is considered a rare luxury. Technology Technology is almost never used except for medical purposes and long distance trips. Other than that people prefer being immersed in nature, as in being outside, gardening, swimming, and hiking. Technology Entering jobs Coming of age When children come of age, they can choose from different “Sectors” of this utopia. There are 5 main sectors: Creative writing, Media art (painting, drawing, photography), acting/drama, and culinary arts. Math and science also make up a section, but, based on how these children are raised, there are less people living in that section. People can move sections whenever they feel so inclined, and there are different parts to each section (Medium arts section has a drawing part/town, a painting town, a photography town, etc). There is also a large agriculture section dedicated to farming and food production. Employment The jobs depend on which sector a person lives. For example, in one there is a number of people who draw and paint for a living, but in another section, there are people who are professional cooks for a living. Because jobs dealing with art are so common in this utopia, jobs such as electricians, plumbers, teachers, etc. are paid extra. They live in a special city next to the Capital and are sent out to the different sections depending on who needs it the most. The

Transcript: The Hydrangeas are vascular because they have a well developed system (xylem and phloem) to transport their food and water with tube-like structures. Taxonomy Hydrangea aspera (aka Hydrangea) By: Meghan Kondroski and Abigail Vining (aka the awesomest and coolest people alive) Kingdom: Plantae Phylum: Tracheophyta Class: Magnoliopsida Order: Cornales Family: Hydrangeaceae Genus: Hydrangea Species: aspera Vascular or Nonvascular Monocot or Dicot There is a report that the fresh plant contains the toxin hydrogen cyanide. In small quantities, hydrogen cyanide has been shown to stimulate respiration and improve digestion, it is also claimed to be of benefit in the treatment of cancer. In excess, however, it can cause respiratory failure and even death. Hazards Hydrangeas are dicots because they have five petals on every flower as seen in the picture below.
