Transcript: The reading strategy that I used was mostly the reading log. It helped me bacause it kept track of my reading. It also helped me because it helped me understand the book better, because it was a poem book , it was sort of confusing. The reading log helped me though. My growth as a reader Heartbeat Heartbeat After Max joins the track team,(page 48) during his big track meet,(page 135) he does not see Annie watching, for he only saw the stands towards the end, because she had to leave early because her mother was in labor,(page `139) and that turned Max into even more Moody Max.(164) Name: Charlotte Ruiter Contact: Explanation of reading strategy used and why it was effective I recommend this book because it helped me understand that everything in life does not have to be perfect. I say this because I am a perfectionist. This book helped me, and I think it could help you too. THANK YOU! Sharon Creech Charlotte Ruiter Explanation ofmain conflict My growth as a reader was tremendous, because of this book. I have always been a high leveled reader, but this book gave me a different veiw of the world. Sharon Creech was amazing and helped me so much with my reading, and about life. Identifacation of theme and how it connects to plot Through this heart melting book, Annie learned that life goes up and down. Good parts and bad parts. Just like the apple she was assigned to draw for 100 days, every day she found a new thing about the apple, it changed in every picture, just like life. (180) Recommendation of book with explanation Plot summary Throughout the book Heartbeat, it is a beautiful explanatin of love, hardship, confusion, and releif. It stars a young girl named Annie, her mother is pregnant(page 6), her best friend is angry with her(page 11), and frankly, her grandfather is confused(8-9). Find what happens as the reader learns what she does to handle the world of confusion around her. Main character analysis Even in the past Annie loved to run, her mother said that she was running even before she was born, she even ran in her sleep, and she would tell her mother she would always come home for that is where she got her start. (4-5) Annie's best friend is Max. They run together every day. (2) But lately, Max has been moody, and he has been very snappy towads everyone including Annie.(11)

Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Transcript: There are many examples of symbolism in this book. One of my favorite examples is at the ending page where the grandfather and baby are looking at Annie's drawing of a seed. She desribes it as old and new, silent and full of secrets. The seed symbolizes a child full of opportunity. The seed symbolizes a whole life ahead; a whole flower ahead. The book excerpt is on pg.180. clipartest.com depositphotos.com thecoveringpolitician.com www.byui.edu audioeditions.com Heartbeat Everything in Annnie's life is changing; her best friend is angry and confused, her mother is pregnant with Annie's first sibling and her grandfather is losing his memory. To Text: This book reminds me of the world because everyone to learn the balance of the world. The balance between life and death, change and preservation, and young and old. Everyone lives and dies and there is always a seedling to take the place of the elders. The seedling will carry on the traditions and hope and dreams of the seniors and add their own. They too, will work to make the world a better place like their ancestors. The Three C's Symbolism There are no allusions found in the book Heartbeat. My favorite poem is Infinintely Joey. This is my favorite poem because it expresses the joys and fears of getting a new sibling. It expresses the curiousity and excitement of waiting to see what something so little and seemingly insignfigant will be when it grows and blooms. I love this poem because I can relate to it with my siblings. I remember those same thoughts racing through my head when I looked at my baby sister. This is on pg.158. Conflict: Climax: Annie's baby brother is due and about to be born but when he comes out he isn't breathing. To Self: By: Maddie Barinowski Conclusion: The End An example of a connotation in the book Heartbeat is on page 7 where the book says alien. When I think of aliens, I think of fear, curiosity, mystery, and of course a little green bug with huge coal eyes and an antenna! Connotations Connections This book relates to me because, just like Annie, I have trouble with change. Especially the changes of growing up. Also, Annie and I both love to run and draw; these are both our favorite activities. To World: Annie learns how to except the changes in life good or bad and she learns how to embrace the things she cherishes like her family. Resources My Favorite Poem Allusions This book reminds me of star girl; it is inspirational and thought prokoking but yet simple.
