invite
Transcript: The back of the invite includes the website, and also includes room to add a name and address for the recipient. Since these invites are meant to be hand delivered and passed around town, there is no name or address on the invite in this image, but the added space allows for it. The first page inside of the invite describes the event and encourages the chef to join. Each spread of the invite has a recipe label. This first spread is the appetizer, because it is the intro to the entire event, and the intro to the Weird Food Fest invite. The Weird Food Festival is very unique, and deserves an equally interesting invite. This invite does just that by adding the right amount of charm and homemade quality with a dash of creepiness. The invite was inspired by recipe cards. It is a booklet bound using the japanese stab stitch technique, and is intended to look charming, yet a bit unsettling. The next spread is called dessert. It includes the back of the sign up card, and includes a recipe on how to make chocolate covered crickets, as well as a chocolate covered cricket. This is an added bonus, and a treat for a chef who enjoys unusual food. This is what the spread looks like when the cricket is taken out of the box. The ingredients are then visible so the chef can make their own chocolate covered crickets. The next spread is called the entre. It is where the chef can see who is sponsoring the event, and can start to sign up to participate. The Weird Food Festival 2013 is an annual festival that challenges local chefs' creativity, originality, and courage by asking them to create dishes using weird and unusual ingredients (specifically bugs). The festival is not only a fun event for hundreds of food buffs in Oklahoma, but also a great way for chefs to get the word out about their restaurants and/or culinary talent. Presented today is an invite for the chefs, inviting them to participate in the festival, and getting the word out about the event.
