Milan fan Religiously watch every game Start playing soccer for a local club The Bowie Obsession Persists Sent to the principal's office and my parent's were called because I was watching footage of a Bowie concert on a computer during free time School deemed it "Obscene and Pornographic" They weren't wrong My dad, being an edgy music fan himself, told the school that it was a form of art Mick Ronson Mick Ronson was David Bowie's Lead Guitarist He became my hero I still aspire to play like him Biggest influence on my musical style 2011 Middle School I become a history nerd Never hit my growth spurt and was the shortest guy in my grade My Middle School Experience is best summed up by Diary of A Wimpy Kid Introduced to the concept of aquaponics by an 8th grade teacher, becomes an interest of mine Soccer Coach moves me to goalkeeper I was actually pretty good Runs in the family---father and 2 of my uncles were both goalkeepers for their college teams Super close with my teammates Being groomed for the starting position at the HS HS has a very good and well-known soccer program, I look set to be a star in HS 2014 Highschool-Freshman Soccer Soccer season starts as I'm transitioning into HS Coach burns me out, running 15 kilometers daily, 4 hours of training per day As a result, I was tired and burnt out for games, make sloppy mistakes and concede a lot of goals I crash and burn in a spectacular fashion Losing games strains my relationship with the team and coach Ruins my relationships with the team I'd spent 6 years playing with Physically and mentally destroyed Season ends, I lose a lot of friends I play for a club in the spring, improving again, determined to come back strong in the fall to become the team's star and save my friendships Tear my hip flexor, realize I can't keep playing at such a competitive level Decide to throw in the towel, apologize to the team and coach for my mistakes, cry in the team locker room a lot What Now? After leaving the team, I got a lot closer with my other friends Joined the History Club, made new friends All my history nerd knowledge paid off I'm an encyclopedia of random facts Made the N.J. Quarterfinals of the National History Bee Carried our team to the National Tournament in D.C. Also pursued my interest in agriculture and aquaculture, and built a large Hydroponic Garden in my basement Decided I'd go to college for Agriculture The Job That Would Change My Life Some of my friends are becoming lifeguards at our local swim club, I join in. We get Water-Rescue and First-Aid Certified. This peaks my interest in medical stuff The job was demanding. We were responsible not only for the water, but all facility maintenance as well Scrubbed a lot of bathroom floors, trimmed a lot of hedges in the burning summer heat, I developed a strong work ethic Also did customer service, keeping club members happy Realized I enjoyed interacting with people Had my 1st save in the water Realized I enjoyed saving people, remained a lifeguard until I left for college Sophomore Year Do well in school Take A.P. Environmental Science All Seniors who are slacking, class is easy, I'm the only sophomore, and I befriend a Senior who was an Emergency Medical Technician for my town's Ambulance Corps That sounded cool, so I signed up to go through my county's EMS academy that summer Could save people, and interact with people. Appealed to me as a cooler version of lifeguarding EMS Academy I find my coursework super interesting, realize I enjoy learning about the human body Graduate after 3 months of intense learning, both textbook knowledge, and practical hands-on knowledge Complete my ER rotations (required by the state) Life changing events in the ER. Saw good and bad healthcare providers, vow to never get jaded and lose my sense of compassion Junior Year Start on the Ambulance Corps, enjoy it a lot School
