Transcript: Mission of the Office of Gender and Sexual Diversity Strengthen and enhance diversity Ensure a climate of respect, understanding, and appreciation Implement policies, programs, and activities Address issues of bias, harassment, and discrimination Works to ensure an open and affirming learning environment Why do we need a Safe Zone Training? Third leading cause of death for all youth aged 15-24 years of age and is believed to be the leading cause of death for gay youth. One in five gay youth report physical attacks of violence. Exercise: Common Myths and Stereotypes The “T” in LGBTQIA According to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR official website), at least one trans person has been killed every month for the past decade. Trans women of color are most often targeted by this violence. Born with external genitalia, internal reproductive organs, and/or endocrine systems that are different from most other people. There is no single "intersex body"; the term encompasses a wide variety of conditions that do not have anything in common except that they are deemed "abnormal" by the medical community. Not an identity category; while some intersex people do reclaim "intersex" as part of their identity, most regard it as a medical condition or just a unique physical state. It is estimated that about one in 2,000 children, or five children per day in the United States, are born visibly intersex, which prompts early (and often misguided) intervention. The "A" in LGBTQIA Betty DeGeneres — Ellen's mom — made this comparison in her book Just a Mom: "Let me suggest that we all know someone who is left-handed. Lefties make up roughly the same percentage [of the population] as gay people. And yet millions of Americans say they don't know someone who is gay. Unless those people who claim ignorance are living in a place called Fantasyland, they are most likely mistaken." >> LGBTQIA Terminology Prejudice plus power and can take many forms including racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, ageism and others Depression, low self-esteem, isolation 1. Transcript: Example of a Jeopardy Template By: Laken Feeser and Rachel Chapman When creating without a template... Example of a Deal or No Deal Template PowerPoint Game Templates There are free templates for games such as jeopardy, wheel of fortune, and cash cab that can be downloaded online. However, some templates may cost more money depending on the complexity of the game. Classroom Games that Make Test Review and Memorization Fun! (n.d.). Retrieved February 17, 2017, from Fisher, S. (n.d.). Customize a PowerPoint Game for Your Class with These Free Templates. Retrieved February 17, 2017, from 1. Users will begin with a lot of slides all with the same basic graphic design. 2. The, decide and create a series of questions that are to be asked during the game. 3. By hyper linking certain answers to different slides, the game jumps from slide to slide while playing the game. 4. This kind of setup is normally seen as a simple quiz show game. Example of a Wheel of Fortune Template Games can be made in order to make a fun and easy way to learn. Popular game templates include: Family Feud Millionaire Jeopardy and other quiz shows. Quick video on template "Millionaire" PowerPoint Games Some games are easier to make compared to others If users are unsure whether or not downloading certain templates is safe, you can actually make your own game by just simply using PowerPoint. add logo here References Example of a Family Feud Template PowerPoint Games are a great way to introduce new concepts and ideas You can create a fun, competitive atmosphere with the use of different templates You can change and rearrange information to correlate with the topic or idea being discussed. Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Transcript: Templates The key to generic programs a simple code! Output? Answer Namespaces Namespace is a feature added in C++ and not present in C. A namespace is a declarative region that provides a scope to the identifiers (names of the types, function, variables etc) inside it. Multiple namespace blocks with the same name are allowed. Templates Templates Templates are powerful features of C++ which allows you to write generic programs. In simple terms, you can create a single function or a class to work with different data types using templates. Advantages: Readability Flexibility Re-usability Function Template FUnction Templates A single function template can work with different data types at once but, a single normal function can only work with one set of data types. Normally, if you need to perform identical operations on two or more types of data, you use function overloading. However, a better approach would be to use function templates because you can perform the same task writing less and maintainable code. Example Sometimes, you need a class implementation that is same for all classes, only the data types used are different. Normally, you would need to create a different class for each data type OR create different member variables and functions within a single class. This will unnecessarily bloat your code base and will be hard to maintain, as a change is one class/function should be performed on all classes/functions. Class Template Class Templates Example virtual functions virtual functions Virtual functions ensure that the correct function is called for an object, regardless of the type of reference (or pointer) used for function call. They are mainly used to achieve Run-time polymorphism. The prototype of virtual functions should be same in base as well as derived class. They are always defined in base class and overridden in derived class. It is not mandatory for derived class to override Example Pass by reference Pass-by-reference means to pass the reference of an argument in the calling function to the corresponding formal parameter of the called function. The called function can modify the value of the argument by using its reference passed in. Does not copy the arguments. The formal parameter is an alias for the argument. References cannot be NULL.
