Transcript: My topic is Free Healthcare Elements of a Proposal Thank You! Free Healthcare! By: John Nguyen Who's my audience and why I chose this topic during this time. Why I chose this topic during this time. Audience • My audience are the taxpayers, and people who often visit hospitals and health clinics who struggles to pay the ridiculous prices. • My purpose is to make taxpayers and people who often need medical help to take action and write to the congress and try to make them consider free healthcare. I have chosen this topic because I just now noticed that prescription drugs and/or check-ups without health insurance is very expensive. Does anyone have any Questions and/or Ideas? My topic is a problem because lately the cost of healthcare is rising and more people are getting sick. One way that it is very harmful is that if a person who needs severe medical attention, but can’t pay for it, will have to either borrow money, be in debt, or not get the medical attention that they deserve. If or when the congress decides to take the people’s word into consideration, they could gradually raise tax and lower healthcare cost to prevent big losses and eventually we’ll reach free healthcare. • I chose this topic at this time because it is the talk of the last two elections that we have had. Obama has been confronted about the healthcare system, and his approach to resolve it is with “obamacare.” 62 ECG bpm
Transcript: Free Healthcare in America Free healthcare is very important in many cases because some countries including Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Antigua Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan all have free healthcare or at least very low cost. That makes it so people that can afford it can get it for free which helps everybody that cant afford it out. Why would people need free healthcare? Introduction “The American medical system is roundly acknowledged as being broken. Costs are increasing steadily, to the point where many middle-class Americans cannot afford health insurance.” So, many people can’t afford to be treated from something that might be life threatening. The cost for healthcare is rising and it is getting very expensive to afford. Broken healthcare Broken healthcare Many americans want change because the healthcare is “crazy” It is very hard for the lower class to afford. The healthcare is crazy The healthcare is crazy A lot of illegal immigrants flee to countries for free healthcare. “Illegal immigrants flock to this country to get free medical care while citizens who are between jobs often do without.” A lot of people don’t have health insurance. A lot of people don’t have health insurance. “28.5 million people in the United States (8.8% of the US population) do not have health insurance.” That is a problem because if something happens to that person the insurance won’t cover them. Millions don't have healthcare Millions don't have it “They argue that a right to health care would stop medical bankruptcies, improve public health, reduce overall health care spending, help small businesses, and that health care should be an essential government service.” If there was free healthcare then the poorer groups would be able to get treated if anything happens. For the public For the public “Proponents of the right to health care say that no one in one of the richest nations on earth should go without health care.” Everybody should have healthcare no matter if they are wealthy or poor. The Richest nations have it. The Richest nations don't need it “Lowers overall health care costs: The government controls the prices through negotiation and regulation.” It makes it so people don’t have to pay as much as with not free healthcare. Cost Topic 4 “Creates a healthier workforce: Studies show that preventive care reduces the need for expensive emergency room usage.4 Without access to preventive care, 46% of emergency room patients went because they had no other place to go.5 They used the emergency room as their primary care physician. This health care inequality is a big reason for the rising cost of medical care.” It costs less and it is better for people that can’t afford it. Healthier Title “Countries often combine universal health coverage with other systems to introduce competition. These options can lower costs, expand choice, or improve care.” Having universal healthcare is important because it supplies the citizens with superb healthcare. Universal healthcare Title Thanks for watching Topic 4

However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Transcript: Conclusion We need to change our healthcare system. We need free healthcare, we need to take a stand. We know that what we’ve been working with isn’t doing the job. Our healthcare is inefficient, discriminatory, and expensive. Free healthcare is what we need. It would raise standards of living by improving efficiency. Stopping the growth rate of health care costs by increasing efficiency raises standards of living by freeing up resources that can be used to produce other desired goods and services. The effects are roughly proportional to the degree of cost containment. (whitehouse.gov) Current Healthcare Discriminates The PROBLEM The curent private for-profit system of healthcare is expensive, inefficient, and discriminatory, it's time for a change. FREE HEALTHCARE Solution: Free Healthcare Overlooking the problem (or ignoring it), being subdued to what the government chooses, and being scared that our economy will crumble. Free Healthcare It would increase the economic well-being of the uninsured by substantially more than the costs of insuring them. A comparison of the total benefits of coverage to the uninsured, including such benefits as longer life expectancy and reduced financial risk, and the total costs of insuring them (including both the public and private costs), suggests net gains in economic well-being of about two-thirds of a percent of GDP per year. (whitehouse.gov) Nearly three in 10 adults said they did not visit a doctor or clinic when they had a medical problem, while more than a quarter did not fill a prescription or skipped recommended tests, treatment or follow-up visits. One in five said they did not get needed specialist care.(healthpaconline.net) The prices are so high that fellow Americans go to Canada which has free healthcare, to get medical attention, and visit countries like Mexico to purchase cheaper medications. The Extreme High Prices Current Healthcare is Inefficient. There are so many law suits over whats not being covered in certain health insurances, like medication and therapy. People just ignore things like this. They refuse to go explore on the benefits of free healthcare and just stay oblivious to whats happening. Many individuals are turned away from insurance companies because of a pre-existing medical condition or illness. Others lose their health insurance when they are laid off from work or change jobs.(carolynmccarthy.house.gov) Because of the Government Family premiums are projected to increase an average of $1,800 each year. The number of the uninsured will reach 61 million by 2020. With employers unable to afford rising health care costs, our country could see an additional 3.5 million people unemployed and without benefits in the next 4 years. Impacting the Economy. 1. Over the years so much tax payers money has been miss used this is the perfect opportune moment to have that money go to our fellow Americans. 2. Not surprisingly, those who were uninsured or had inadequate health insurance were most likely to have trouble affording care. But 28% of working-age adults with good insurance also had to forgo treatment because of the price, this will not be an issue. Free Healthcare In the United States means all citizens and tax payers will have the right to free healthcare. No Discrimination The Cause: 1. With free Healthcare no person can be denied the medical health they deserve and require. 2. If people lose their jobs they don’t have to be concerned about losing their benefits. 3.Companies wont have control to make money off of people that are sick or can get sick or hurt. Healthcare will be free. All citizens and tax payers will have the right to free healthcare. This will be possible with a slight increase in taxes and money not returned when people do their taxes. Billions of dollars are not claimed yearly in the United States. The Cost doesn't Matter The majority of health insurance coverage is tied to employment. When health insurance is tied to employment status, it can be very disruptive and inefficient. It is estimated that about 24% of the uninsured are without insurance because they lost their job or had a change in employment. (Healthpaconline.net)
