The Building Blocks of Prezi

Transcript: ...But There Are A Few Differences Frame vs. Slide Prezi allows you to import existing PowerPoints into Prezi and then manipulate them into Prezi presentations Select " Insert" at the top and choose " PowerPoint" from the dropdown menu The slides will load into a toolbar on your right. From there, you can either drag and place them individually into frames or select a template and import the entire presentation into it I think the easiest way to learn to use Prezi is to think of what you would like to do in PowerPoint and then look for how to replicate that in Prezi. A lot of the features are arranged very similarly and operate in much the same way. Movement and slides are the two main differences. Once you understand how to manipulate those, the other features (e.g. font size, shapes, images, hyperlinks, colors, etc.) generally parallel PowerPoint in location and employment Importing a PowerPoint Into Prezi The Prezi website provides a lot of tutorial videos that are fairly clear and helpful Exploring and attempting is usually the easiest way to learn, but if you get stuck or are looking for how to do something specific, they are very helpful! https://prezi.com/support/ Stick to a template...at first There are a lot of template options It helps with the steeper learning curve They are pre-controlled to avoid motion sickness and for design features Customization is equally -- if not more -- possible with Prezi than with Powerpoint but it is a bit harder to learn A frame is the Prezi equivalent of a PowerPoint slide It is easiest to think of a frame as a paused scene of a movie -- it is one shot that the audience will see A frame is indicated by a light blue outline Frames are also numbered in a toolbar on your left (like PowerPoint) To create a frame, click on the " frames and arrows" button at the top of your screen If you move/size/rotate a frame, all the content within the frame will move/size/rotate too Prezi Tutorials There is a toolbar at the top of the screen with three icons "Frames and Arrows" -- use this to insert frames and arrows "Insert" -- use this to insert pictures, video, music, files, shapes, or PowerPoint "Themes" -- use this to control color and design 1) To add text you do not need to create a text box. You just click and start typing 2) Instead of numerical font sizes, there are small and large A icons that you click to enlarge or shrink 3) On any element of your frame, there is a three icon bar that will show up: a plus sign to make the entire element larger, a minus sign to make the entire element larger, and a hand to move the entire element Top Toolbar The Building Blocks of Prezi Templates are Your Best Friend Using Prezi is not that different from using PowerPoint... 1) Click " New Prezi" 2) Choose a template (or a blank template) 3) Insert a title 4) Select a frame 5) Type by clicking wherever you would like 6) Within the frame select insert to add non-text material 7) Click and drag thumbnails to change the order of the path 8) Select "edit path" to change aspects of the path other than order 9) Click present Prezi is a relatively new presentation tool It has two main features: 1) It is web-based a) Like google documents or the cloud, Prezi operates off of the internet i) Positive: Ease of collaboration and sharing information, automatically saves ii) Negative: Cannot use where there is no internet iii) Caveat: Privacy should not be a concern if you purchase the Prezi package. If you use the free version, anything you create is automatically made public 2) It allows movement a) A Prezi presentation is a "moving canvas" -- all of your frames are on a single canvas and the presentation moves from frame to frame What is Prezi? Nine Basic Steps to Creating a Prezi
