Transcript: Personal Fitness :) what is fitness? The state of being fit capability of the body doing physical activity. The Rewards What can it prevent? Physical activity can prevent diseases and illnesses. Why do we need to? It helps to control your weight and build stronger bones. How does phsyical activity make you feel better? Helps you social and academically. It increases self esteem. Lowers level on stress. Why do we warm up? Before a workout you should warm up. You warm up so that your body is ready for the activity and to get your heart rate up. It also reduces the risk of an injury. Warm up and cool down exercises Slow jog: to prepare joints Walking: at a steady pace March: in place Knee lifts: Controlling the body Heel Digs: A simple workout to lower the heart rate You should do warm up and cool down for 3 to 5 minutes Why do we cool down? Cooling down is just as important as warming up. You should cool dwon after a workout seccion to return your heart rate to its original pace. The purpose of cooling down is to not pull a muscule and to reduce muscul soreness. Components of fitness! Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Activities -Should make up a minimal part of a healthy diet. -Doesn't contain the nutrients your body needs. -Junk foods are high in fat, sodium and sugar. -Doesn't contain adequate amounts of protein and good carbohydrates Effects -Lack energy -Pancreas secretes high amounts of insulin. -Can lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease and arthritis. -Blood sugar levels will drop Introduction Sports Health and Fitness -Health food is food considered to be beneficial to health in ways that go beyond a normal healthy diet required for human nutrition. -Healthy food may also refer to functional food that designed to address specific health concerns, such as the prevention of disease -Healthy food is sometimes used in contrast with "junk food", which may be high in calories but has little other nutritional value.

Transcript: Ways to stay healthy Get plenty of water through out the day (Men need about 13 cups and women need about 9) Your body weight is more than 1/2 water Water is used for many things throughout your body including: helping your blood flow, helping your immune system work, digesting foods, getting rid of waste, regulating your body temperature Eat around 2-3 cups of both fruits and veggies per day Excersize for at least 30 minutes 3 days a week Read -it helps to improve cognitive thinking, memory, and other brain functions -it also helps to relieve stress Good hygene is not only important for preventing illness, but it also is good for your self image and people are more likely to want to be around you. Avoid stressful situations as much as possible - Stress can lead to serious health problems including high blood pressure, heart problems, and obesity. Do things to relieve the stress you can't avoid: -activities such as listening to music, playing an instrument, singing, dancing can help take your mind off of stress and give you time to refresh yourself so you can take it on with a renewed sense of determination. -Spending time with friends and family is also a good stress reliever Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night A person can die from lack of sleep sooner than they could die from lack of food During sleep, your body produces extra protien molecules that help repair your body by strengthening your immune system Sleep reduces stress and keeps your blood pressure in check It improves memory by allowing your brain to better process experiences and knowledge Sleep even helps with weight loss by regulating the hormones that control your appitite Lack of sleep increases your chance of getting diabetes by slowing the processing of glucose Limited amount of sleep for long periods of time can lead to depression and anxiety Work out every day Avoid stressful situations Choose healthy options when I eat Keep stress to a minimum by getting enough sleep and studying ahead of time for exams Eating healthy - less junk food, more veggies Keep a water bottle with me at all times - if you have water with you, you're more likely to drink it more often I try to excersize with friends at least three times a week Well, I go work out with you during the week, we usually spend anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour at the REC I'm a veggitarian, so getting enough fruits and veggies isn't really hard for me, I just have to make sure I'm getting enough protien through out the day. I also take a multi-vitimin every morning. I love biking, so I try to bike everyday for at least an hour As far as keeping a healthy diet, I only eat when I'm hungry, and I only eat when I'm full, that way I'm not over eating. I also try to eat plenty of vegitables and bananas as I can. I go to the Otto rec center and I choose healthy options at the caf No midnight snacking I try to work out every day of the week.
