Transcript: Children were sometimes hit with a whip to make them work faster. In some factories, children's heads were dipped into cisterns if they became drowsy and sleepy. Children were also punished for arriving late for work or for talking to the other children and adults who were working. Apprentices who ran away from the factories were also punished. One of the systems to punish these children was called weighting. The supervisor would tie weights to the child's neck and make him or her walk around for everyone to see. This resulted in severe back and neck problems. Children who were sick were also put into specific parts of the factory isolated from the other workers. They were given harsher tasks to do. A typical workday consisted of working from 12AM-11PM.[1] (cc) photo by jimmyharris on Flickr (cc) photo by Metro Centric on Flickr Cotton mills used inventions such as the steam engine and the power loom to pioneer the industrial factory of the 19th century, where precision machine tools and replaceable parts allowed greater efficiency and less waste. In 1834 New England textile factory owners decided to cut the wages of these young women in order to save money.[5] In response, the young factory laborers organized turnouts (strikes) in an attempt to force their employers to raise wages again. In New England in the early to mid-19th century, many cotton and textile factories employed large numbers of female adolescent laborers from the New England area.[3] The girls came from families of middling farmers. Factory employment offered an alternative to rural lifestyle, and many women labored, not only to send money back home, but to gain greater social & economic independence factories Research Results the beginning 2011 Notes (cc) photo by Metro Centric on Flickr These young women viewed themselves as equals to their managers. They saw their wage reductions as attempts to take away their economic independence and force them to become completely dependent upon factory employment for survival—to make them "slaves" to their employers. Because of bad timing and poor organization their 1834 factory turnout was unsuccessful, but it did lay the foundation for successful strikes that helped shape factory life in the future in 2011 children are not able to work on factories. workers get better payments and better treatment. the most modern world. factory New England Our Project Entrance to the Venetian Arsenal by Canaletto, 1732.The oldest known production facility that might be called a factory was discovered at Blombos Cave, a cave on the south coast of South Africa some 200 miles (320 km) east of Cape Town, where 100,000-year-old tools and ingredients were found Important Details thank you for listenning British colonies in the late 18th century built factories simply as buildings where a large number of laborers gathered to perform hand labor, usually in textile production (cc) photo by Franco Folini on Flickr

Being more than a manufacturer of design furniture, m ao quadrado© contemplates innovative concepts in its designs that complete the characteristics of its pieces. The traits of this new brand’s essence are stood out by the reflection of democratization (consisting of expression coverage), the freedom to compose the furniture, and the environment at your preference. The products of m ao quadrado© are created from a briefing in which the four elements of geometry - cube, cone, cylinder and sphere - guide the creative process of designers and are a DNA of m ao quadrado© that expands the access to design furniture. Other differential concerns the easy transport, handling and assembly of the pieces, since they will be made available to the storekeeper and final consumer in a compact manner to start an Ecologically Sustainable chain. Template and Factory Integration

Transcript: -Convert the interface of one class so that it can be used by another. -Adding/changing classes behind the adapter with the same interface is easy. If the interface is different you have to re-write your adapter. Strength: Decouples implementation from rest of code. Changes to the class behind the adapter are contained. Weakness: Adapter is specific to the class it is adapting. Changes to the class mean the adapter has to also be changed. Template Basic Template UML Integrating the Template and Adapter Design Patterns Questions? When using a template pattern, we define our procedures and the methods we need to carry them out. Doing this means we often need to provide adapters between the methods that define our general steps and the objects that are implementing them. Template and Adapter Patterns Adapter The template pattern's use as a framework makes it the perfect place to use wrapper patterns like the adapter. The use of an adapter allows you to use a greater variety of classes to perform the procedure that the template outlines. -Defers the implementation of methods to subclasses.-Used when you want to have different implementations of similar steps/procedures. Adapter Template -Adding new classes to the template is simple, as you simply inherit the template interface. -New classes do not have to also be adapters. -Interface is difficult to change as you must make changes to all of the subclasses of your template interface. Strength: Provide a framework for common tasks or processes. Weakness: When the task or process a template implements changes, all of it's concrete classes must also be changed. Template with Adapters Conclusion The integration of the template and adapter remains as easy to test as either of the patterns individually. 1. Test the classes being adapted. 2. Test the template. Strengths - Only need to test the methods the adapter uses in the class it is adapting. Weakness -Either have to do the testing inside the template class or expose more methods than necessary. Maintenance Testing
