Transcript: Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups? In the article i focused on liam bates as an artist instead of focusing on his social group. From what i know i represented liam as a "street smart" teenager that is quite laid back. Also he added the street signature to his outfit by adding a snapback. I focused on Liam as if he had a massive fan base. I asked him questions that most people would want to hear. I also wanted to subconsciously send the whole teenage audience some motivation that you need to try, by using his story of sending anyone a mixtape and showing them where he is now Contents Page Photo: American Rap Style Contents page Article: The contents page features things teenagers that pick up rap magazines are usually interested in. Trainers, a bit of gossip about rappers and a lot about music. Social media has had a massive impact on how the whole social group of rap is represented. The Facebook generation are much more likely to be interested in trainers and music at the same time. Also most people that are interested in modern rap know a bit about old school rap and the history of it. Everyone i spoke to knew the likes of 2 Pac and Notorious B.I.G. Liam Bates aka Big bates has been portrayed in a similar manner on the contents page and the cover magazine. He has a almost monotone look in the photos as rappers have a "convention" of not smiling on any photo. This is also a stereotype of the genre, but this may have deeper roots than just rappers being serious. I believe that it has a obvious link to street life and the mentality that showing feelings is not going to get them respect. Cover Photo: Big bates is presented as a average middle class male teenager that dresses with a visible influence from American rap. This look is often associated with the likes of Kanye West or 2 chainz. Both of them like to incorporate gold into everyday style, just like big bates with the signet. He is avoiding eye contact (thats why he is also wearing sunglasses) with the camera because his fame recently "blew up" and he has had a hard time with cameras following him everywhere in his everyday life.

Transcript: I love this image because of the red used. I wouldn't necessarily recreate the image but I would take inspiration from the make up. I also like the more 'attitudey' feel in this photo. I think this would be more suitable for my magazine cover, given that it is going to be a heavy metal magazine. I like this image because of the simple pose Lzzy is in.
