Transcript: McDonalds Animal Abuse How do you think McDonalds treats their animals? Why we Chose this Topic We only see behind the counter when our food is made, we don’t really know how the animals are killed for us to eat, but now we know. We got to see McDonald’s secret side. It inspired us to join P.E.T.A and help out the cause of unnecessary cruelty to animals. It was interesting to know that the new method that P.E.T.A came out with for killing the chickens, which was less cruel and was no higher in price then to kill them the way they are right now but McDonald’s refuses to change. We are both animal lovers, and thought if we shared the truth about McDonalds then it would inspire others to help be a part of the change. Background Information McDonald’s is one of the largest sellers of chicken, and beef. According to P.E.T.A (people for the ethical treatment of animals) McDonald’s uses outdated and cruel methods for killing their animals. Both the United States and Canadian suppliers are involved in this cruelty. Transcript: 2nd argument If the 3-D printer goes through then there won't be a need for people to make products when people can just print that object from their computer. This is bad because many people rely on manufacturing jobs to make a living and if the printer is made then all those people will be forced to find another job. This is also going to cause many manufacturing businesses to close down and lots of stores to close because they will not be needed and will have no point for it to be there. 3rd argument If 3-D printers become made for everyone, cost may be a problem; the printers will cost lots of money and not many people are willing to pay thousands of dollars for it. Also some people do not like to buy things online and prefer to pay to an actual person with cash so this will definitely be a problem for these people . 4th argument Finally, if 3-D printing is allowed to the people, a lot more useless things may be produced that could affect people's wallets. It is hard for people to resist the urge to buy something they want (as opposed to something they need) when it's as simple a clicking print. It will make accessing these things easier and resisting the urge to get them harder. Concluding questions: 1) Do you think technology has gotten out of hand? 2) How big of an impact will 3-D printers have on people if they're allowed? THE END By: Viveahan 1st argument Weapon violence currently is pretty bad with people using weapons to do horrible things. If 3-D printing was allowed, then there would be nothing from stopping someone from going onto their computer, printing a weapon and harming many people. It will definitely make it harder for police to do there job of saving lives when access to weaponry is so easy. Summary The name of the article is "Rise of 3-D printing; how a little machine can turn an apartment into a factory" and it is about how 3-D printing is becoming a big thing. 3-D printing is when you use the design of an object then print it and it comes out as the three dimensional object. This means that people can simply find the design of the object that they want and can print out the actual object in the comfort of their home. The article said some things that are being 3-D printed included necklaces and finger rings to full size car parts. The makers said that the 3-d printers are still in the process of being perfected so it's not ready for the public just yet. The 3-D printer would be good for computer owners, but there are also negative impacts: for example many manufacturing businesses will be deeply affected and not to mention that it opens a possibility for people to print out firearms. Current events presentation My Opinion In my opinion, I think the idea of 3-D printing is a bad idea because it has many negative impacts and have bad effects on certain people. Reasons why I think this are it will affect certain manufacturing companies, opens up a possibility of the ability for people to print weapons, makes many money issues, and will cause more useless things to be made.

Transcript: Osaka Japanese mayor, Toru Hashimoro claimed that "The use of comfort women (from mainly South Korea, China and the Philippines ) in front line brothels before and during WWII was considered necessary at the time to maintain military discipline and give soldiers relief." Two Korean Women in their 80's are demanding an apology and the resignation of Toru Hashimoro because of this justification made about japanese wartime policies of comfort women to the media. Toru and these two women were supposed to have a meeting on the day this was said, but they canceled because they felt that there was nothing to talk about because he didn't show any remorse for his remarks, however, Toru claimed that this cancellation was unfortunate but respects their feelings. This statement was unbelievable because he blamed their hurt feelings about the subject on the media for misrepresenting what he said. Toru also suggested that the US military troops that are stationed in south Japan should patronize legal adult entertainment establishments to reduce the level of sex crimes there. Toru has apologized for this comment, but denies any prejudice against women. Kim, one of the two Korean women was deceived into working at a military uniform factory at the age of 15. She ended up becoming a prostitute for Japanese soldiers, taking an average of 15 soldiers a day during week days and dozens a day on weekends. Kil, the other Korean women, was determined to help her poor family and took a factory job at 13. She was then taken to China and repeatedly raped between 1940 and the end of World War 2 in 1945. Historians predict that up to 200,000 women from across Asia were forced to become 'comfort women' during this time for Japanese soldiers. No official records state that these women were forced into this sex trade, or rather "sex-slavery". Is it morally right to have comfort women during War times if no women were forced into servitude, and no women were raped? Do you think that if there were no comfort women during these war times life would be harder for average female citizen than if there were? (example, women being picked off the streets and raped, etc) Do you believe that in future cases, less women would be tricked into sex slavery if there was a legitimate position open for women who are willing to volunteer as comfort women Do you think Kim and Kil are taking their case too far by demanding that Toru resign from his position as mayor, especially considering that he was born 25 years after World War 2 ended and had nothing to do with and no understanding of the tragedy and challenges they faced as young teens? Presentation By: Bao Vang TORONTO-Two large foreign tobacco companies had recently been asking the Ontario top court to dismiss the $50 million law suit that was launched towards them by the Provincial government.The company's lawyer argue that there is no point in pressing a law suit against the tobacco companies due to fake conspiracies and rumors that had been going on apparently the companies conspired in the 1950s to withhold information from Ontario smokers about the harmful and addictive ingredients in cigarettes.
