Classroom Presentation
Transcript: Classroom Presentation Kindergarten Class Story Time Overview During my 12 observation hours at Clark, I observed two children in particular; Kylie age 6 and David age 5. Both present in Mrs. Purcell’s kindergarten class, however very different in personalities. Out of all the children in the classroom, David and Kylie's personality stuck out the most. Observing all of the children was fun, and I was able to recognize developmental domains for kindergartners using the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (Kinder-2nd grade). As I observed Kylie and David, I had to look for social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development. All of witch both children had astonishing results. George C. Clarke I ended my observation semester with a play environment activity called Ice Cream Math. Judging by the kid's reaction and the response from Mrs. Purcell, my activity was a success! The activity is designed to help students practice important math concepts building ice cream cones as they practice counting skills. I enjoyed my time at George C. Clarke, and I can't wait to have a class of my own. According to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (Kinder-2nd grade) all school age children from K-2th, children learn fundamental movement skills and begin to understand how the muscles, bones, lungs, and heart function in relation to physical activity. The child should be able to “ (A) travel in different ways in a large group without bumping into others or falling; (B) demonstrate clear contrasts between slow and fast movement when traveling; (C) demonstrate non-locomotor (axial) movements such as bend and stretch; (D) maintain balance while bearing weight on a variety of body parts; (E) walk forward and sideways the length of a beam without falling; (F) demonstrate a variety of relationships such as under, over, behind, next to, through, right, left, up, down, forward, backward, and in front of; (G) roll sideways (right or left) without hesitating; and (H) toss a ball and catch it before it bounces twice. Kylie and David both demonstrate these skills.” The kids in Mrs. Purcell’s kindergarten class at George C. Clark take library time seriously. I believe it is one of the kids favorite time of the day. I observed the children go to and from library time, which is where most of the observing of physical development was done. I have to say that Clarke has the cutest library I have ever seen in Fort Worth ISD. Just take a look for yourself! All of the pictures where hand panted by children from George C. Clarke!
