Transcript: Marijuana is the most commonly abused illicit drug in Canada. It is a dry, shredded green and brown mix of flowers, stems, seeds, and leaves derived from the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. The main active chemical in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol When someone smokes marijuana, the chemical inside rapidly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to the brain and other organs throughout the body. This influences the brain through pleasure, memory, concentration, sensory, time perception and movement. marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty with thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Research has shown that, in chronic users, marijuana's adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off.Long-term marijuana abusers withdrawal symptoms including: irritability, sleeplessness, decreased appetite, anxiety, and drug craving, all of which can make it difficult to remain abstinent. Marijuana increases heart rate by 20-100 percent shortly after smoking; this effect can last up to 3 hours. After long term effects, this can cause addiction, which causes shaking, and heart beats to raise incredibly. Marijauna does not effect the liver directly, however the smoke can cause damage after a long term THAT'S IT FOLKS ! Ability to reduce sperm count in males.
