Bullet Train

Transcript: Thank you BY: Joseph, Julia, Kayla, & Liz History of the Bullet train Possibilities such as the adding Friction based electrical systems, or solar panels which would essentially make the project pay for itself at a certain point it would produce its own energy to run making the project gain more funding to add on or fund other areas, also allowing if enough electricity is made that can power surrounding areas for little to no cost. https://www.google.com/search?q=facts+on+the+bullet+train&rlz=1CAHPZY_enUS731US731&oq=facts+on+the+bullet+train&aqs=chrome..69i57.4246j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&surl=1&safe=active&ssui=on The original bullet train is the Japanese 0 Series Shinkansen. The nickname originated when the concept was first proposed in the 1930s, and when the high-speed train started operating in 1964 (shown above) it kind of resembled a bullet, so the name stuck. The fact that it could do 130 mph didn't hurt, either. Bullet Train cite work Our stance on the situation Perks of the Bullet Train The cost of buying a bullet train ticket isn't as expensive as buying a plane ticket A bullet train is an extremely fast train usually found in Chinese, Japanese, and European countries. They offer visitors an experience like no other with speeds reaching up to 200 mph. www.marketplace.org/topics/business/desert-city-welcomes-californias-high-speed-train design by Dóri Sirály for Prezi http://clarencegooden.com/the-pros-and-cons-of-californias-high-speed-rail-project/ High speed rail is the most convenient and comfortable form of transportation on earth Bullet Trains are good because ... Creates millions of green jobs nationwide building the new rail infrastructure and manufacturing the rail cars Saves lives (43,000 Americans die each year in car accidents) Cons to the Bullet Train https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/15/us/california-today-bullet-train.html?_r=0 www.marketplace.org/topics/business/desert-city-welcomes-californias-high-speed-train What is a Bullet Train? Cost The potential cost for a ticket around $80 per person, for a family of 4 that is $320. Poorly cited The work going on at the work cites are poorly supervised, leaving room for error. Not enough support Public opinion is iffy, people are unsure if the bullet train is worth tax payers money. http://www.acprail.com/rail-passes/japan-rail/bullet-train Provides efficient mobility that moves people and goods without delay and waste https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/15/us/california-today-bullet-train.html?_r=0

The destination city's public transportation is important in making sure that the journey from the bullet train station to the destination is as easy and convenient as the bullet train. *acknowledging all services in place and projected need of additional services Not all cities have the same modes of public transportation and all don’t service all areas of the cities and outlying areas. The existing services such as DART in Dallas and METRO in Houston were taken into consideration when determining the optimal location of the stations. In most cases cities will have to alter existing bus routes and propose express shuttle routes to local city train stations. As for the Brazos Valley Station/ College Station where there are no existing services all new services have to be implemented then there is the decision as to which neighboring city will be responsible for providing services and which city will be providing funds for these services. *Coordination of city officials, transportation heads and planning departments With a project of this magnitude there is a lot of communication between all the parties involved which could be a logistical nightmare getting all involved to meeting, conference calls, and meeting minutes relayed to those that are unavailable. City Planning and development Departments have to coordinate with Public Transportation department heads to plan out which services will be available which may not be a part of the cities thoroughfare plan due to existing demand of ridership in the proposed locations which could lead to budget issues if demand is not met once the stations become operational. * Could enlarge the footprint of the stations Once acknowledging which Public transportation services will be available consideration and accommodations must be made for Rideshare services that may also become available at the proposed locations. As these services become available and as the high-speed train’s ridership grows as projected more space for parking, increasing means public transportation required could force the need for available parking. Presently the Brazos station will have 1200 vehicle parking lot while the Houston and Dallas stations which are located in rail interchange areas will have smaller parking areas but will have pedestrian connections to adjacent parking facilities. Being on a 60 acre lot the Brazos station could potentially grow in the future if need be but the Houston and Dallas stations will have harder times expanding being they are already on smaller landlocked lots. Transcript: BULLET TRAIN BY: ARTIFICIO PASCUAL SAMSON VITALEZ Introduction 1 ABOUT? THE STUDY IS ABOUT? The effects of High-Speed Rail on the Transportation System of the Philippines Also known as High-Speed Rail (HSR) is a railway system designed for speeds above 250 km/hr. WHAT IS A BULLET TRAIN? WHAT? SHINKANSEN PROBLEMS 2 TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN/OUT AND WITHIN METRO MANILA TRAVEL TIME CURRENT CONDITION OF RAILWAY TRANSIT SYSTEM OBJECTIVES 3 To determine if Bullet Train can help lessen traffic congestion To determine the effectiveness and efficiency of Bullet Train in terms of travel time To determine if Bullet Train is the applicable solution to replace current railway system DISCUSSION RELATED LITERATURE 4 CONGESTION CONGESTION JICA "Studies show that delays caused by traffic make the Philippines suffer economically" (2017) JICA CARMUDI “Carmageddon -we all experience it these days. It’s the bane of every motorist and commuter in the Philippines, and sadly, it’s getting extremely worse by the second." CARMUDI "Waze, the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app, describes Metro Manila traffic as the worst traffic on earth." (2019) BEIJING TO SHANGHAI ROUTE USHSR "HSR not only delivers a new form of fast transportation but also relieves congestion on highways and runways, making both of those systems function more effectively. " DISADVANTAGES "Japan has estimated that it would cost the Thai government 420 billion baht" Nikkei 2017 "the first 380 km will be built in a span of 6 years from 2019 to 2025." CONCLUSION 5 HSR FOR SHORT DISTANCES IS NOT ECONOMICAL #1 NOT AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION #2 ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS MUST BE CONSIDERED #3 RECOMMENDATION 6 #2 #3 #4 #1 IMPROVE OR UPGRADE RAILWAY SYSTEM BUILD MORE RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE IN PROVINCIAL AREAS IMPROVE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PROMOTE AND IMPLEMENT MODES OF TRANSPORTATION THANK YOU FOR LISTENING! 7

Bullet Train

Transcript: Bullet Train by Kyla Rusputri Designer Who first designed/developed it? Hideo Shima was the inventor , and designer of the first Bullet Train . He died of the age of 96 in March 19th . Engineers What types of engineers are (or may be) involved in the design and operation of the Bullet Train? Civil engineering, Computer engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering Process When was the device, product, or system first designed/developed? Late 1990's What knowledge and materials had to exist before the product could be designed/developed? Engineers modeled after the kingfisher birds. They modeled for them for their tunnel sonic booms . The train's high speed in tunnels would build too much pressure , but from the design from the kingfisher adapts the head of the bird. Solution What problem does Bullet Trains solve? About 5 million people in opening day, Japan has one of the busiest rail-road lines . Bullet Trains helps Japan's economy . It helps business and people alike by allowing workers go off in a distant and helps suppilers and firms. Also, tourism went up for their simple , and fast access to places. Future What new products could Bullet Trains lead to in the future? It could led to faster trains , or more train tunnels that are built.
