Transcript: Who we are? Boxing Presentation by Raihan shah P2 describe the influence of the media on a selected sport in the uk. M1 give examples of the influence that the media has had on a selected sport. What is the media? TV TV The first format of media i will be discussing is TV broadcasting Boxing events. These events usually are broadcasted on TV channels such as; sky sports, BT sport, BoxNation, Box office, itv box office and ESPN. They are displayed on these channels as boxing brings a wide audience and some channels might see this as an oppurtinty to make money through advertisements because it is a popular sport. BOXNATION Example 1 Example 2 Example 2 Example 3 Example 3 Newspaper Newspapers Newspapers are another type of media that advertises Boxing sport achievments of past fights. They advertise on Newspapers such as the Daily Mail and The SUN. This gives inmformation on fights before they happen and after they happen they inform the public of what fights are possible to happen they do this so they can increase theyre newspaper sales and aquire more sales and attention. They will see this information and leak it as a matter of to make capital. Example 1 Example 1 Example 2 Example 2 Example 3 Example 3 Social Media Social Media This method of media is a huge success in catching the eudiences attention and spreading the word around. In this case on social platforms such as Twitter, facebook and instagram the biggest social platforms in the world. Boxing events see this as a oppurtunity to sell their event to the targeted audiences. This is where most of the marketing is done. Example 1 Example 1 Example 2 Example 2 Example 3 Example 3 Effects on the media Effects on the media Positive Effects Positive impacts There are many popstive impacts on the sport the media bring with many negative impacts also some of these postive impacts could be; Firstly it is the audinece and attention it brings to the sport individually especially with the wide audinece of boxing fans when theyre targeted by ads it can boost pay-perview sales because of all the hype over social media and the tweets and instagram posts from both boxing opponents, Another impact can be effects on the opponents their fans might motivate them and support them which might then have an effect on the athletic performance of the boxer to give their fans what they want to see which then would make boxing more exciting to watch for all fightfans, another positive impact to the sport might be that there is more promotion done to the sponsors which then they will recievce more sponsors from larger companies which will make them more capital and they will recieve more views also it is much more easier to get the word around very quickly if any upcoming fights or negotiations between promoters are going on which keeps all fight fans on their toes wiating to purchase the pay-per view and seat tickets. Negative Effects Negative impacts The negative impacts to the sport boxing the media can bring are maily rumours, rumours are made often to mainly get views or attention on their page or channel they create a mess and huge rumours that lead people on.
