India is rich in gold and uses most of it for jewelry. The jewelry industry is a big part in the development of India's economy. Nope.............It's just pretty.....well not all the time Maybe it is or maybe it is not Yeah but I do not know why The most popular piece of jewelry in India are bracelets. A female's marital status is determined by the amount of golden bracelets she wears. Also gold signifies wealth. The jewelry a female wears to her wedding is all that she truly owns in her life. Bracelets made with glass stones are considered jewelry for the common people. As we can see in America we do not hold significance in our jewelry. I have found that this is not the same for other cultures. I focused on two cultures that gives jewelry enormous importance. The two cultures are India and Cote D'Ivoire. History You tell me!!!! Jewelry Jewelry NO Navaratna WHO KNOWS Yes because it can be a symbol INDIA IS IT REALLY ALL ABOUT THE BLING???? Yeah because it could be part of a family tradition America Do YOU FEEL jewelry is important???? Why???? Um I really do not know.....depends on the person.........I guess Cote D'Ivoire is also referred to as the Ivory coast. It is located on the West Coast of Africa. It is said that in size it is a little bigger than New Mexico. The country economy is supported by the mining of diamonds. No because it is just used to make an outfit look better India The popular jewelry in this culture is necklaces. The material used to make the beads that make up the necklaces are what gives the jewelry some significance. Necklaces made out of glass beads equal wealth and power. They are mostly worn by cheifs or elders. Wooden beads are worn my the middle class. Shell beads are worn by poor people. Certain designs also bring significance to the necklace by keeping evil away. Some designs promote fertility, while others promote power. Cote D'Ivoire/Ivory Coast History Cote D'Ivoire
