A namespace is a declarative region that provides a scope to the identifiers (names of the types, function, variables etc) inside it. Multiple namespace blocks with the same name are allowed. Templates Templates Templates are powerful features of C++ which allows you to write generic programs. In simple terms, you can create a single function or a class to work with different data types using templates. Advantages: Readability Flexibility Re-usability Function Template FUnction Templates A single function template can work with different data types at once but, a single normal function can only work with one set of data types. Normally, if you need to perform identical operations on two or more types of data, you use function overloading. However, a better approach would be to use function templates because you can perform the same task writing less and maintainable code. Example Sometimes, you need a class implementation that is same for all classes, only the data types used are different. Normally, you would need to create a different class for each data type OR create different member variables and functions within a single class. This will unnecessarily bloat your code base and will be hard to maintain, as a change is one class/function should be performed on all classes/functions. Class Template Class Templates Example virtual functions virtual functions Virtual functions ensure that the correct function is called for an object, regardless of the type of reference (or pointer) used for function call. They are mainly used to achieve Run-time polymorphism. The prototype of virtual functions should be same in base as well as derived class. They are always defined in base class and overridden in derived class. It is not mandatory for derived class to override Example Pass by reference Pass-by-reference means to pass the reference of an argument in the calling function to the corresponding formal parameter of the called function. The called function can modify the value of the argument by using its reference passed in. Does not copy the arguments. The formal parameter is an alias for the argument. References cannot be NULL.

Transcript: These are are pre-designed documents and you simply remove the placeholder text and images and replace with your own.Mainly used to create brochures, posters etc. The main advantage in using templates is that you do not have to start from scratch and worry about the design of the page and the content. The ability of one piece of software to read and use the data produced by a different piece of software. This is combining a list of names and addresses with a standard letter so that a series of letters is produced with each letter being addressed to a different person. The list of data used for the mail merge can be created using the word-processing software or it can be imported from a database or spreadsheet. DTP is used to produce documents consisting of more than just text. For example, the documents can contain artwork, such as photographs, diagrams, clip art, cartoons, graphs as well as text. Most of these items are prepared using different software and are then imported into the DTP software. A show is simply a series of slides, which are put together using presentation software. The designer of the presentation is able to choose the way slides can be timed to appear. Presenting Information Macros Style Sheets Style sheets separate the content from the way the content is presented.This means that if a font for a heading needs to be changed throughout the document, this can be done in the style sheet. Importing DTP (desktop publishing software) Creating a Show Templates Mail Merge Macros are lists of instructions that can be run through like a checklist. Any time you perform a repeated task with multiple steps, such as typing a form letter or inserting "greek" text to test the layout of a document, you're effectively performing a "macro" on your own. Computer macros simplify this by allowing to "record" these steps and then play them back any time you want. If you recorded a macro that automatically printed the cover letter to a monthly report, for instance, you could ensure that each cover letter was printed in the exact same way. This reduces the possibility for error and makes your life easier.
