Although these images have small file sizes and therefore should run smoothly online they are also dependant on internet connection and could lead to the site they are used on looking less professional Advantages of GIFs Disadvantages of GIFs GIFs have a maximum colour palette of 256 which doesn't make it look photo realist the disadvantages to this is that it looks very cartoon like and not professional. GIFs are hard to modify once created because then there coded there isn't any way to go back and edit the image so this may lead to having to start over again just to make a minor adjustment to the image. Advantages of GIFs Animated GIF GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format This is a file format that lets you use a range of separated frames to put them together which allows you to create movement which and give the appearance of a mini movie Animated GIF An advantages of using animated GIFs is that there small files which allow them to be used easily online due to the fact they can upload quick as well as being shown in good quality.
