Spinning The Wheel:

Transcript: Uber's pricing system. How will we do this? Goals: To win back business from young people Objectives: To make Taxis seem cooler and more attractive to young people To make catching a taxi an experience To make Uber seem more unattractive in comparison Reaching our target audience: young people. “God-view” tool allows Uber to track customers Widely available to Uber's corporate employees Taxis: Free Independent No Big Brother Use media to promote taxis as being a liberating alternative to Uber Putting the cool back in Taxi 1. Implement new/more effective promotional campaign to endorse ‘goCatch’ app Loyalty program for all riders who download app - 10th ride free 2. Initiate a Student Loyalty Program 10% off discount during peak hours (2am-5am), and 15% off discount during off peak times (5pm-1am) 3. Boosting Taxi’s image as young, fun service through social media platforms Water and Berocca provided Optional McDonalds run between (11pm-3am) if McDonalds is 24 hours and on route* Young/enthusiastic drivers allocated to Valley/City trips Free phone-chargers Partner with concerts/festivals etc. Taxi driver selfie = 10% off your next ride Appeal to young and trendy 18-25 year olds Promote taxis as: Reliable Cool Authentic Winning allegiance of young generation is key Ensures long-term support METHOD: Social media Facebook Instagram Youtube Twitter etc. Rating system Convenient - paying by card Monitored journey Real-time location Friendly Drivers But... PR Strategy for Taxi Companies No tracking No rating “Free to grab a cab” The Road Ahead: Goals and Objectives The ORIGINAL and BEST The real deal, not some cheap knock off like Uber They are regulated and have always played an integral role in the Australian economy They are legal, and insured and licensed Unlike Uber, a taxi can’t just turn off its tracking service So why do people LOVE Uber? We can't compete on raw cost, but Uber's pricing system is flawed. 1. Surge pricing during disasters. Example: Price increase during Sydney siege. 2. Impact on drivers. High driver turnover- drivers leaving due to poor conditions? 3. Potential for surge pricing system to be used to rort customers. Uber can change prices manually whenever it wants. Strategy: Promote these issues in the media wherever possible and in a timely manner. GOAL! Uber: Putting Brakes on the Party Spinning The Wheel Road Block: The PR Problem Uber and "God View" Uber fails to cater to large groups Promote maxi taxis as the “party bus” Supports young consumers Understands their party habits Offers fun, communal transport option Devise ads showing groups of young people having a fun night out, using maxi taxis for transport
