Eye Protection SAFETY PRINCIPLES Containers of chemicals must be properly labeled Safety is everyone's responsibility protects the user against health or safety risk at work F I R S T Accidents can be lessened if not avoided TASKS: Recommend to the company what corrective actions should they do to ensure safety in the work place through a written report. You will be assessed by your peers based on your contribution Present your report through a powerpoint presentation or any equivalent software. Safety is a must for employment Duties of a safety officer: Head Protection Eye protection No matter how expensive or complete your PPEs might be, if you're not going to use it, it is USELESS! SAFETY According to the Labor code of the Philippines, - Article 162 that mandates workplace should comply with the Occupational safety and health standards. Having a safe working place is both beneficial to the workers and the company as well. In as much as this will lessen the down time of the production area and safe keep the well being of its workers. As a trainee how will you foster safety inside the workshop? A visit to a machine fabrication made us aware of the importance of safety in the workplace. Having a short glimpse of the company made us more aware that we should strictly implement a safe working place and a safe attitude in our own workplace. Some of the observations were made during the visit. Some of the workers are not wearing PPE’s, there was no proper storage of raw materials and finished products, workers load heavy workpiece in the machine manually, the restriction lines were almost not visible, absence of exhaust system in welding areas, poor ventilation, no proper waste management, signages were not placed in strategic places and metal chips are scattered on the floor which can cause slip, trip and fall. Problem Scenario LEAD through example Attitude is contagious Auditory Protection Respiratory protection 1. Identify and eliminate root of accident 2. Secure the victim (utmost importance) 3. Collect evidences (pictures, drawing, diagrams - use scaling when needed) 24 hour rule should apply 4. Investigate - Witnesses and supervisor 5. Write a detailed report 6. The most challenging part for me was putting my cylinder together. It was challenging because of its shape. Since it is circular it was hard to tape an glue the flaps down an get them to stay. What can I put my glasses in? Net # 2 My Computations The manufacture would be concerned about the surface area an amount of material because if the product is big or small it would affect the volume. The ratio of volume is as the surface area increases/decreases so will the volume. Net #1 Why would a manufacturer be concerned about hte surface area and amount of material used to make a package? ?Short Answer Question? Which will I choose? I decided to go with net # 2 for two reasons. The 1st reason is because my glasses would fit better in a cylinder than in a rectangular prism. The 2nd reason why I chose a cylinder was so the arms of my glasses would have a better time fitting.
