The Rosetta Stone was found in the year 1799, by the french solders while they were re-building a fort in Egypt. And the Rosetta Stone was found near the city of Rosetta.
What are Scribes?
In ancient Egypt not everyone was allowed to learn to read and write. And the only people that were allowed to learn to read and write were a group of people called scribes (these would usually be men).
How does on become a Scribe?
In order to become a scribe you would have to attend to this special school just for scribes. At the school they were taught how to read and write. The students had to have lots of practice in order to get the signs right. The way they practiced was by copying signs on to a piece of papyrus paper.
