Twiggy Born Lesley Hornby on the 19 of September in 1949 in West London. She dropped out of school at the age of 15 in 1964 to pursue a modeling career. By 1965 Twiggy was well
known in many different countries
such as: England, France, America, and Japan She was most known
for being very boyish
or androgynous and being incredibly
skinny unlike any model at the time In 1966, at the age of 17, Twiggy was voted British Woman of the Year. In 1967, Twiggy released
her first music single
titled "Twiggy". In 1971, Twiggy made her lead musical role debut in the Broadway revival of "The Boyfriend". The musical was successful and won two Golden Globes. Twiggy married Michael
Whitney in 1977 and in 1978,
their daughter, Carly Hornby,
was born. Sadly, in 1983 after six years
of marriage Michael died of
a sudden heart attack. -Modern Accomplishments- Twiggy has become a
television presenter and
interviewer. Starting in 2005 Twiggy was a judge on "America's Next Top Model" seasons 5-7. In 2009, Twiggy was
featured in the New York
Metropolitan Museum
of Art exhibition
"The Model as a Muse" Influence on Today Being the first skinny supermodel, Twiggy has completely changed the image of the "ideal" body.
