Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children
Transcript of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children
The beginning of the book is set in Florida. It is present day. With in the book, the characters travel to Cairnholm Island, Wales. When in Cairnholm the characters travel between the present and 1940.
Jacob Portman- Jacob is peculiar. He can see monsters. Jacob is kind and he can be a bit sensitive. He takes care of his family, and his friends. However, because Jacob is so kind he trust people a little too easily.
Emma Bloom- Emma is peculiar. She can summon fire through her hands. Emma doesn't trust people, unless they earn her trust. She is tough and sometimes a bit conceded because she always does well.
Miss Peregrine- Miss Peregrine runs the house for peculiar children. She is also a peculiar. She is a ymbryne. This means she can control time because she can turn into a bird. The bird she can turn into is a falcon. Miss Peregrine is responsible and strict because she takes care of lots of children.
The main conflict in Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children is that Jacob's grandfather dies. This is a problem because his grandfather died with many important secrets that are relevant to keeping Jacob alive. Jacob has to travel to the place where his grandfather grew up to unravel the secrets of his past, and to find out what is to come of his own life.
Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children was an interesting book. It starts off with Jacob Portman's grandfather getting murdered by what Jacob believes was a monster. On his death bed, Jacob's grandfather starts to tell him the biggest secret of his life, but dies before he can finish. Jacob looks for clues in his grandfather's old house to try and figure out what his grandfather was trying to tell him. Eventually, Jacob finds a clue leading him to an island where his grandfather grew up. When Jacob gets to the island he discovers an abandoned orphanage where his grandfather lived. This place was Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Jacob goes inside the house to investigate when he discovers a girl. He recognizes this girl from photos his grandfather showed him from when he was younger. The girl explained that the year is 1940. Along with this, the girl has a strange power. Someone Jacob knows follows him to the island, but has other plans in store for him.
"I thought I could protect you," he said. "I should've told you a long time ago..."
This is the part when Jacobs grandfather died. He tried to tell Jacob a secret but died before he could.
The theme is trust because without trust Jacob wouldn't have found out what his grandfather's secret was.He trusted Emma and Miss Peregrine to lead him through an adventure. If he wouldn't have trusted any of the peculiars and if they didn't trust him he would have made a new friendship and stopped what killed his grandfather.
I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5. This book was very suspenseful, and compelling. I didn't want to stop reading. The was Ransom Riggs described each scene made me feel like I was an actually character from the book. The characters were well developed because they each had there own personality. The only thing I didn't enjoy about this book was that there were many made up words and mythical creatures that were hard to understand. Overall this was a geat book.
I would recommend this book to all my friends. This is because this book is very thrilling and a fun read. Although it is a somewhat difficult book, it is very enjoyable. The way Ransom Riggs describes every part in the book makes you feel like you are really there as a character in the book. This book is very original, and the characters are all so unique. The photographs and text work together very well to create an unforgettable read. I loved every minute i was reading this story. I would definitely recommend this book.
Rewriting the Introduction
I Jacob Portman sat there starring into my grandfathers eyes as he muttered his last words he will ever say "I thought I could protect you," he said. "I should've told you a long time ago..." Then I watched him take his last breath and shut his eyes for the very last time. I wish there was something I could've done. But when I got to his house, it was too late. Whatever was out there had already attacked him. And now he is gone. My grandfather. I hear something rustle in the woods. Out of the corner of my eye I can see something horrifying. It looks to me like a monster. It has around 10 snake like toungs and eyes that can see into your soul. Just as I turn around, the creature disapears.
