Organize the Process
Personal Potential Index (PPI)
One report per applicant

* planning and organization
* ethics and integrity
Evaluators use both a numerical score and comment feature. 3-5 evaluators are required.
ADEA PASS Evaluations
The Match provides an orderly process to help applicants obtain positions in advanced dental education programs of their choice and programs obtain applicants of their choice.
Some programs participate in ADEA PASS only.
Some programs participate in Match only.
Some programs participate in both.
Some programs participate in neither.
Match is a binding agreement. If you accept a position at a non-Match program BEFORE the Match occurs, you must withdraw at least 24 hours in advance. If you are applying to multiple Match programs, know you can only match at one residency.
Think long and hard about your Rank Order List before you submit it.
Start the application. Include the essay, educational and reference information, document uploads and the request for your transcripts.
Complete program-specific supplemental information.
Monitor the application for receipt of the Institution evaluation and dental school transcript.
Submit the ADEA PASS application with designations.
Submit PPI Report with at least three evaluations.
Top five qualities PDs are looking for in residents:
1. Team Player
2. Assumes Responsibility
4. Interpersonal/communication skills
Who should I ask to write a PPI or PEF?
Any dental school faculty who knows you well
Faculty member associated with clinical experience
Faculty member associated with the type of program you are applying to
Customer Service: firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-612-2065
Is Match a second application?
No. It is a process that decides where applicants will be placed.
Can I apply to Match and Non-Match programs?
Yes. Most non-Match programs will offer admissions before the Match dates. If you accept, you must withdraw from the Match. If you wish to pursue a Match program, you assume the risk that there is a possibility you will not Match.
Can I apply to Match programs in different phases?
Yes. You will only match to one program.
Can I apply to two types of specialties in the Match?
Yes. You will only match to one program.
Can I apply to a program and then decide I don't want to be considered?
Yes. If you do not wish to be considered, do not include the program on your Rank Order List.

Programs will not see where else an applicant has applied
Submitting and completing the ADEA PASS application is not the same as completing a program application. Check with the program to determine what supporting documents must be sent directly in order to complete their application process.
International dental graduates should submit one of the following: Official foreign dental school transcript (in English), or foreign dental school transcript evaluation or translation.
* World Education Services (www.wes.org) or Educational Credential Evaluators (www.ece.org) recommended.
* Request a course-by-course evaluation of the dental school transcript. Mark sheets will not be accepted.
* Submit the original, evaluated transcript to ADEA PASS with the required documents by the evaluation service directly to ADEA PASS.
Institution Evaluation Form
Recommended but not required if an applicant is unable to secure a letter from the Dean. The applicant can ask for an exception within the ADEA PASS application.
ADEA PASS will only collect self-reported information on the TOEFL. An official score report should be sent directly to all programs.
Not all ADEA PASS program accept international applicants (especially those who attended dental school outside of the U.S. and require a visa to study). Check the ADEA PASS Search Engine and with the program for more information.
*As of April 2014
