The Navy is the branch of the military that fights ON the water... UNDER the water... and OVER the water Why is this important? 90% of all international trade travels by sea 70% of the earth's surface is water In other words, what happens on the water MATTERS It matters to keeping the peace It matters to our economy and American jobs It matters to national defense. We are a nation bounded by oceans, after all.
