Theodore Roosevelt
As a kid he had asthma and was often sick. His nickname was Teddy. His father made him exercise despite his sickness and he became healthier and stronger.
He went to Harvard University. He was
a Republican. When the Spanish-American
broke out he assembled a group called the
Rough Riders. They became famous in the
Battle of San Juan,Cuba.
He was the 26th president of the United States.
After President Mckinley
was assassinated he took
office. He became the
youngest president ever at
42 years old.
He went to Harvard University. In 1905 he
won the Noble Peace Prize for helping end
a war between Japan and Russia. He was a
Republican. His religion was Dutch Reformed.
He was the first president to leave the country
while in office. He traveled to Panama in 1906
to see the construction of the Panama Canal. In
1910 he took a five minute flight in a plane built by
the Wright brothers. This made him the first president
in flight.
In 1912 while he was giving a speech in Milwauke he was shot in the chest. Instead of going to the hospital
he gave his long speech. He said "It's going to take more than that to kill a bull moose".
He died in his sleep on January 6, 1919 in
Oyster Bay, New York. He was posthumously
awarded the Medal of Honor the highest
honor in the military.
