Pirates Question: How did pirates affect N.C economically and politically?
By: Cutter Rousey The pirates would rob ships and sometimes take over towns terrozing the civilians. This affected the economy by them stealing gold and goods from towns. A good example of this is Blackbeards famous blockade of Charleston. He made it so that no ships could get in or out of the harbor slowing down trading with other countries. The political effects were the governors putting out pardons in an act to get the pirates to hunt down other pirates for money. Some pirates did this and others didnt. The Golden Age of Piracy ended around 1726 eight years after the death of Black Beard.
