Transcript of pythagorean Theorem

only works for a right triangle.
LEGS: the sides that form the right angle( a & b)
HYPOTENUSE: the line that connect A & B.(longest side)
C represents the length of the hypothenuse 2 2 2 things to know: make sure C is always across from the right angle EXAMPLE! Find the length of the hypothenuse of a right angle with the leg length of 15 in. and 20in. A
2 + B
2 = C
2 pythagorean Theorem 15 in 20 in c ? 15 2 + 20 2 = C 2 Substitute 15 for a & 20 for b 225+400 = C 2 Evaluate the powers. 625 = C 2 ADD _ < _ 625 = C 2 take positive square root of each side. 25 = c Evaluate the square root
