a doctor looks at your large intestine. A length of tube connected to a camera with lights and cables are used while a doctor looks through an eyepiece or video screen. To diagnose colon cancer, which
is the second most common death
due to cancer in the U.S. To investigate problems such
as abdominal pain or diarrhea. High damage to Colon by tube, bleeding, abdominal pain, or infection. You are healthy and no other
studies are needed, a diagnosis of your disease is made, or you may need additional
testing or consultation. Several leading medical groups suggest
routine screenings of men and women
over 50 years of age every 3-5 years. Some
groups also suggest younger people get
screened often if they have a close relative
who had/has colon cancer. Colonoscopy is a similar screening
to sigmoidoscopy, the only major
difference is that the tube goes
further up the colon in colonoscopy. In the procedure, doctors can use an immobile or flexible scope. Generally, doctors prefer the flexible scope because it is more comfortable for the patient and there is better visibility. Reliability If there is good visibility
