Mrs.Ferro 2nd Period Land Transportation (For richer people):
*Wagons Stagecoach There were 2 kinds of water transportation back in 1700's, the first kind is Overseas Vessels. These were the ships that were used to transport people from England to America over the Atlantic Ocean. They usually only carried passengers and cargo.
There was also land transportation for richer people and families too. These people also had to walk and ride horses, but they had other options too.They were able to travel in carriges and wagons provided by companies the these people payed money to. Then lastly the were able to travel in stagecoaches which were probably most popular because the people could add very lavish accesories to show off their wealth. Land transportation is what was mostly used back then. For commoners that meant walking on badly maintained dirt roads. Also they could own horses who could take them places but there where only 1 or 2 horses per poor household. When these people did go somewhere it was usually just to town or work. Lastly there was Coasting Vessels. These ships were usually stayed along the coast transporting goods and people.These ships also where very cramped and small. They had crews of 25-30 men and somtimes even less. They weren't exactly the most comfortable things, but they did what they needed to do. The
