THE Muscular System
Transcript of THE Muscular System
how they work
are the muscle we use to help us move around. they cover our skeleton and move with our bones. sometimes called the striped muscle because they come in long dark and light bands of fibers. these muscle are voluntary because we control them with the signals from our brain.
types of muscles
there are three types of muscles:
- usually in
sheets or layers
-brain and body controls these muscles
- helps you throw up
- can control these muscles
- work with bones to give body power and strength
-held to bones with help of tendons
- makes up the heart
-thick muscles of heart contract to pump blood out, then relax to let blood back in once circulated through body
these some of the main muscles in your body!
Your muscles help you pump blood in your body, help the digestive system and also help you carry heavy weights. More than millions of fibers make up each muscle!
: -numerous of muscles by facial nerve, that are attached to move the skin
Neck muscles: -
neck muscle are bodies of tissue that produce motion in neck.main function is head movement, maintenance of blood flow to brain and holding head up right up
-thick flat triangular muscle, covering shoulders. Is attached to the collar bone, shoulder blade and humorous bone in arm
-pectoral muscle, found on each side of the upper chest. they become larger when kids hit puberty.
: -muscle on the front part of the upper arm. the long heads and short heads work as a single muscle
-below pectorals and under the rib cages. Are two parallel muscles, separated by the mid line band of connective tissues
extensors of wrists and fingers:
-muscles give movement flexion for wrist and fingers. give the ability for you to write and hold things in hand. located in fore-arm and down
-muscles in front of thighs. Is a large four-part extensor at the front thigh.people who run or bike have large strong quads.
-a crease or hollow at junction at the inner part of each thigh, formed where two intersecting vaults meet.
: -divided in
- stretch all the way from pelvis to cranium
-help maintain posture
-three groups of layers; superficial layer, intermediate layer, deep layer
- thick splenius muscles form superficial layer of muscles
-located on the lateral capitis
: -large muscles on back of upper limb. responsible for the extension of elbow joint (straightening the arm)
-muscle under skin and fat in your behind. it acts to extend the thighs
: - groups of tendons contracted to three posterior thigh muscles. make up borders of space behind knees.
-on the back of lower leg. made up of two muscles the gastrocnemius, and the soleus. help pull up your heels when walking or running.
- is a tendon of the posterior leg. main function is to attach the calf with the heel bone.
are muscles that don't connect to our bones, but they control our organs in our body.these muscles work on their own.
are muscle that helps pump our heart and blood.
-You have more then 600 muscles in your body
-Muscles are made of the same material. kind of like a rubber band
-The smooth muscles can also be called involuntary
-The heart muscles is also known as myocardium
-skeletal muscles also can be called straited muscles
-muscles make up about 40% of the total body wieght
-Muscles cannot push, they can only pull. reason arm can push, is muscles in the back of the arm pulling on the elbow
-The strongest muscles in the body is called the masseters
-Smiling takes 17 muscles in the face, while frowning takes 43
