- Hebrews 8:4-5a

Now the point in what we are saying is this we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven

- Hebrews 8:7 - The Thread of the Gospel

Messianic Jews
Messianic Seal of Jerusalem
The Symbol is a combination of the Menorah (which is an ancient Jewish symbol), with an Ichthys ( an ancient symbol that represents the Christian faith) that together form the Star of David in the intersection.
The author is calm in his writings, not showing any anger, but yet a sense of urgency. When you read the passage you feel as though the author wants to get the information to you while making you feel loved. That is why he is calm in his urgency.
Where Did They Come From?
Messianic Jews originated in the Pre-19 century
Hebrews 8:1-3
Hebrews 8:4-7
Hebrews 8:8-10
Hebrews 8:11-13
Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the holy places, In the true tent that the Lord set up, not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; thus it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.
The lord found fault in the old covenant, and the people did not follow it. So he made the new covenant which applies to us, And we are to follow the new covenant. But we do not have to follow the old covenant anymore because it no longer applies to us.
For finding fault with them, He says, "BEHOLD, DAYS ARE COMING,SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL EFFECT A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH; NOT LIKE THE COVENANT WHICH I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS ON THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT; FOR THEY DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, AND I DID NOT CARE FOR THEM, SAYS THE LORD. FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THHEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEHY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE."
And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.
The High Priest
In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away
Verses 11-12
Verse 13
Overview of the verses
Overview of the verse
The High Priest was chief religious leader in Israel. He made sacrifices on the day of atonement in the Holy of Holys. He was essentially the peoples ambassador to God.

- This passage is a continuation from verses 8-10 (which explains about the new covenant. and the problems with the old covenant)
-God will be merciful and forgive everyone who know Him and "will remember their sins no more."
The Point
The point upon which the author is referring to is the point of the entire letter.Which is that Jesus is the high priest and has brought full and complete forgiveness to all people.
- What is being explained is that a new covenant with God has been made that out rules the old one.
Gifts to Offer
The Priests had to make atonement sacrifices to pay for the sin of the people as well as themselves. And this is alluding Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. How every high priest must offer a sacrifice, and Jesus offered the most complete sacrifice to pay for everyone, which was is himself.
Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, "See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain." But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.
This verse explains how there was no need for Christ to become a earthly priest because he would be serving himself. Christ is also better then the old covenant could ever be.
Key Verse: A key verse in this passage is verse 7 because it talks about how if first covenant was perfect then there would be no need for Christ
Who Are They?
Application
They are people who mix evangelical Christian views with Jewish practice and traditions
Because Jesus is the High Priest of a better covenant, we:
- worship him (vs. 1)
- trust him (vs. 2)
- follow him (vs. 5)

Because Jesus is the High Priest of a better covenant, he:
- sympathizes with us (vs. 6)
- is perfecting (vs.7)
- Is God, and we follow him (vs. 10)
- Is Lord (vs. 11)
- Is Merciful (vs. 12)
- Makes new (vs. 13)
And Because of those, we need to follow him with everything we have. And hold nothing back. And allow him as our high priest and intimate pastor in our life by surrendering complete control of everything we want to control in our lives by being honest with him.
Hebrews 8:1-2
Now the main point in what has been said is this:
we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the majesty in the heavens, a minister in the sanctuary and in the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.
