The start of dynasty
After the death of Elizabeth the first Stuart king of England was James VI.
He believed that, as a monarch, he was the representative of God on earth.

Like the Tudor, James VI doesn't work whit the parlamient but he didn't have the same money and the military power. The James' court was disreptable for high corruption and those caused a pessimistic view of human nature.
The puritans and religion
The religion was still a critical issue. Catholics were excluded from social life and the Puritans disapproved all the rites of the church of England. They were against of entertainment and they remarked the importance of individualism within religion.
The colonies in the new world
The puritans wanted the Church to be governed by lay elders not bishops. James was disagree becouse he think that without bishops there couldn't be a king and begun to attack.
In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers left England for america and founded New Plymouth. The new world was very convenient for unwanted religious and political and also a valuable markets for English goods.
Tranlsation of the Bible and the Gunpowder Plot
King James authorised a new translation of the bible. It would be use by the Church of England for more than 300 years.
In 1605 some Catholics wanted to blow up the house of parliament it was called Gunpowder Plot but it was a failure and is still commemorate on 5th November.
