"Picking on me like a dinner plate"
I selected this song because...
Almost everyone can relate to this story
The song is playful so there were a lot of poetic elements
I love the message in this song
Not only does the song display social mobility through the lyrics, the video tells a different story. The video shows what could happen if we don't do anything about bullying. The whole video shows other students at the school walking by them and paying no attention to them whatsoever. As a result, the decide to get their own revenge. While the scene at the end of the video could be viewed as entertainment, in real life, anyone who is a victim of bullying and hits a breaking point usually reacts in a way brings forth negative consequences.
The song expresses feelings of an individual who isn't a part of the popular crowd.
This is the story of how someone's status in society changed over time.
Your status in society could change at any given point in time and you may be above those who put you down.
Fighting back doesn't always make things better, sometimes karma does all the work and all you have to do is stay true to yourself.
"It ain't so funny when the jokes on you"
"How come you look so cool?"
"It's not about who you are or your fancy car"
The entire refrain is separated by brief pauses indicated by commas
"My problem, I never was a model, I never was a scholar, but you were always popular, you were singing all the songs I don't know..."
"I could of been a mess but I never went wrong 'Cause I'm putting down my story in a popular song"
