Transcript of Characters and Return Of The Jedi

Return of the Jedi:
Characters and story telling What is Return of the Jedi? Return of the Jedi is a movie, which was made in 1983.
It was the third of the Star Wars movies, which are the most
popular series of movies ever.
Although it is one movie, it continues stories from the two
other movies. What is the story? Far, far away in space, planets are controlled by an evil empire.
Many people are unhappy, and a rebellion has begun.
In the past, the planets were protected by a group of people called Jedi.
They had magical powers, and were peaceful people.
The Empire killed nearly all of them, but one is still alive, and is trying to fight the empire... Luke Skywalker Luke is the last of the good Jedi, and has been studying in the other two movies.
The Emperor wants to make Luke evil, so he can use his powers.
Luke is honest, and cares about his friends a lot.
At the end of Empire Strikes Back, Luke lost his hand in a fight with Darth Vader, who also told Luke that he was his father. Darth Vader Darth Vader is the second most important person in the Empire.
When he was younger, he was a good Jedi, but he turned evil and joined the empire.
Vader has been ruthless, and killed many people, but now he wants to find his son, Luke Skywalker. Emperor Palpatine The Emperor is the leader of the empire.
He is very, very, very evil, and is building a space station which he will use to kill millions of people... Death Star He knows that Luke Skywalker is very powerful, so he wants to make him evil so Luke can't kill him.
This is what he did to Darth Vader when Vader was young. Luke has many friends, who have helped him in the other movies. Han Solo Han Solo was a bounty hunter, who used to only care about himself and money, but now he is a General in the Rebellion.
He is a rogue, but he is also a good person, who cares a lot about his friends.
Han Solo is in love with Princess Leia, and best friends with Chewbacca. Princess Leia Princess Leia is in love with Han Solo, and is very close to Luke.
In the first movie, A New Hope, her home planet was destroyed by the first Death Star.
Leia is brave, and will do anything that the men will to defeat the Empire. Chewbacca Chewbacca is best friends with Han Solo.
They have had many adventures in the past.
Chewbacca can't speak English, and is brave, loyal and very strong. Lando Calrissian Lando Calrissian used to be a criminal, but he became leader of Cloud City.
In the Empire Strikes Back, the Empire took over his city, and Lando joined the Rebellion.
Lando has been friends with Han Solo for a long time, and is now a General in the Rebellion, like Han. C-3PO and R2-D2 C3-PO and R2-D2 are robots, who belong to Luke Skywalker.
C3-PO can speak millions of languages, but he is cowardly.
R2-D2 is small but is headstrong, and is not scared to join in a fight. Look at the worksheet:
Can you write about what each character is like? Almost all stories have three parts: A beginning:
this is where we meet the characters, and we find out what the story will be. A middle:
This is usually where things go wrong, and the characters have to think of a way to make things good again. An end:
This is where the story is finished, and all the things that have gone wrong are solved: sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way... At the end of Empire Strikes Back, there is a sad ending... After Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker fight in Cloud City Darth Vader tells Luke he is his father. Luke is very upset, and escapes. Meanwhile, Han Solo is trapped in ice, and given to a bounty hunter. Lando and Chewbacca go to find Han Solo, and plan to meet Luke and Leia when they find him. The beginning of Return of the Jedi... Luke Skywalker and his friends have found Han Solo, who is an exhibition in the palace of Jabba the Hutt. They rescue Han, and release him from the ice... Luke goes to see his Jedi teacher, Yoda Yoda is 900 years old, and is dying.
Before he dies, he tells Luke that he has a sister Luke realises that Leia is his sister, and that she can also be a Jedi. Darth Vader and the Emperor are on the Death Star. The Emperor wants Darth Vader to bring Luke Skywalker to the Death Star, so he can make him evil...or kill him. In the middle of the movie, the Rebellion find a way to destroy the Death Star, so Luke and his friends go to a planet called Endor to help the Rebellion spaceships attack. On Endor, they meet the Ewoks. The Ewoks are cute and friendly animals that live on Endor.
They want to help Luke and his friends fight the Empire. Luke thinks he can make Darth Vader good again, so he goes to the Death Star with him. Lando and many Rebellion spaceships are flying towards the Death Star to destroy it, but they have to wait for Han Solo, his friends, and the Ewoks to break the Death Star's shield. So, what's happening?
Answer these questions in your little books: 1. Who is Luke Skywalker's father? 2. Which two characters are in love? 3. What did Yoda tell Luke before he died? 4. What does the Rebellion want to destroy? 5. Why does the Emperor want Luke Skywalker to come to the Death Star? Now, we're going to watch the end of Return of the Jedi. What do you think will happen?
Remember what is happening, because you will be asked questions when it has finished... http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/4nHuevcUzSA/
