Live every moment like it's your last, because you never know what tomorrow will bring.

In the beginning of this story, Hazel Grace views
everything as negative.
Hazel Grace Lancaster is the protagonist in The Fault in Our Stars who has cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Thyroid cancer when she was 13 years old.
Currently, she is sixteen years old and attends a support group with children living and suffering with cancer.
Augustus Waters is the main character in The Fault in Our Stars novel. Gus is a former basketball star who is an amputee from osteosarcoma. But Augustus doesn't let that stop him from living his life.

Augustus Waters
Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters are the main characters of the novel
The Fault in Our Stars.
Hazel meets Gus through Isaac and the support group. They fall in love
with each other instantly.
They call one another every day and addition to that, text each other every single day.
They immediately hit it off and change each others lives drastically.

“Oh, I wouldn't mind, Hazel Grace. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.”
Important Quote
Hazel emails her favorite author of the novel An Imperial Affliction, Peter Van Houten wanting to know the ending of the story.
She gets an invite to Amsterdam, where supposedly will disclose all of the secrets about An Imperial Affliction.
Unfortunately, Hazel gets ill and ends up in the ICU. But after she heals, her doctor said that it is approved that she can travel to Amsterdam. Mrs. Lancaster, Augustus, and Hazel journeyed to Amsterdam together.
On the plane to Amsterdam, Augustus announced to Hazel that he loves her.

They finally arrive to Amsterdam and meet Van Houten, who surprisingly happens to be a drunk, and refuses to answer Hazel's questions.
At the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Augustus and Hazel finally kiss. Back at the hotel, they get intimate.

Support Group
Hazel Grace is forced by her loving and caring parents to
attend a support group.
The support group is where Hazel meets and immediately
falls in love with seventeen-year-old Augustus Waters.
Support groups are held in a church basement by an over-
enthusiastic group leader named Patrick.
Hazel dislikes taking part in the support group and she says
very scornful things about the entire process.
The support group is a big part of The Fault in Our Stars,
and if there was no support group, there would be no
Augustus Waters loving Hazel Grace.
This novel is extremely engaging, and truly moving.

I would recommend this story to students and young
adults that would benefit from reading this novel
in many ways.
I would also recommend this story to anyone who
can read, especially cancer patients.
The Fault in Our Stars is extremely captivating with its characters and the
plot of the story.
When I started reading this novel, I had a difficult time putting it down
because it was very heartbreaking but, hilarious!
The story line of this book feels so real and I can definitely relate to all of the main characters.
The setting of The Fault in Our Stars takes place in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Hazel Grace and the cancer patients are normally in hospitals, churches, but often in each other’s homes.

Hazel is generally in her room reading the same book
over and over and watching TV shows such as
America’s Next Top Model.

Gus is a reckless and you can say TERRIBLE driver.

Augustus Waters always has a cigarette placed between his lips, but he never smokes them. I was wondering, "Why would a former cancer human smoke?"
Waters says,"It's a metaphor, see: you put the killing right between your teeth but you don't give it the power to do its killing."
Man vs. Nature
The main conflict in The Fault in Our Stars is Hazel Lancaster's struggle with her cancer and the possibility of dying young.
In the middle of The Fault in Our Stars, Augustus, Hazel,
and Mrs. Lancaster travel to Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is where Hazel and Augustus are supposedly going to find out the ending of
An Imperial Affliction.

Man vs. Self
Hazel has a difficult time not trying to build a relationship with Augustus Waters
because she knows there will be a scar left after she dies. She does not want to
get too close to him because she knows she will die very soon, but she doesn't know
when that time will occur.
Man vs. Self
The novel, An Imperial Affliction ends in pure curiosity for Hazel Grace therefore, she has numerous unanswered questions for Peter Van Houten about the novel and its true ending.
