7th Grade Trip
2016-2017

How do I dress to stay warm?
NO COTTON!
WEAR LAYERS!
BE PREPARED!
WATER-PROOF GEAR AND STAY DRY!
-Bring extra layers in your backpack!
-So you can add/remove to regulate.
Cotton traps water and causes friction!
-Gloves and warm hat at all times!




Weather changes regularly!
-Sun -Snow -Rain
-Shoes
-Outer layers
-Back packs

-Gore-tex or other waterproof make
-Waterproof spray
How do I stay healthy?
DRINK WATER!
EAT PROPERLY!
WHAT GOES IN MUST COME OUT!
MEDICATION!
-Dehydration is a SELF-INFLICTED injury!
-It occurs when water intake is less than output.
-In cold dry weather, you sweat without realizing it and lose moisture when you breathe.
-Thirst is the first sign!

-Dark urine means you're already dehydrated!
-Causes confusion
-Muscle cramps
-Weakness
-Nausea/vomiting
-Can lead to body shut-down, organ failure, and coma

Sign up for text messages!!
Drink WATER at every meal!

Carry and sip water all day!
Eat a balanced meal even if you don't like it!
-Fats-cheese, dairy, oils
-Proteins-meats, tofu, beans
-Carbohydrates-bread, pasta, cereal
NOT CANDY!
Your body needs MORE fuel than during your normal daily routine.

-Altitude
-Cold weather
-Hiking
-snow
DO NOT HOLD IT!
-Bladder infections - painful to urinate, urinating blood!
-Constipation/Cramps - extreme cases...stool fished out!
If you are not going in the woods, you are not drinking enough water!
EVERYONE should be urinating in the woods at least 3 x day!
Don't worry...your instructor will teach you how!
-Put all only medications approved by doctor in a plastic zip lock bag and give to chaperone. Nurse must have form on file for all meds.
-Students may carry Albuterol inhalers and epi pens with them. NOTHING ELSE!
-Include directions on how to take medications on the "Medication Instruction Form."
-Parents need to check off OTC meds you can take.

-Gaming devices/basic mp3 for bus ride only. Will be confiscated if used off of bus.

-It will be cold! Bring jackets and boots to put on.
-Listen closely to directions about luggage, keys, rooms, schedule, etc.
