There are 572 islands in the territory. The territory's capital is the city of Port Blair.
The earliest historical evidence on these islands goes back some 2,200 years.

About 50 varieties of forest mammals are found to occur in these islands. Some of them are native to the island, for example the Andaman Wild Boar.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have a tropical rainforest canopy, made of a mixed flora with elements from Indian, Malaysian and native floral types.

The islands extend from 6° to 14° North latitudes and from 92° to 94° East longitudes.
There are many primary and secondary schools in these islands, which provide education in English. There are 396 schools spread over 36 Islands.
How to get there
Andaman, being an island, can be reached in only two ways – By air or by sea.
: You have direct daily flights to Port Blair (capital of Andaman) from Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
If you plan to visit it from Budapest then the round trip cost would be around 263,000 forints, with a travel time of 18hr 55 min.
: They sail from Chennai, Vizag & Kolkata. There are usually 3-4 sailings every month. Ship voyage takes about 50-60 hours.
