5 ways of St. Thomas Aquainas
The Argument From Motion
Nothing can move itself. This simply means nothing can move God. If every object in motion had a mover, then the first object in motion needed a mover. Same as to if every human had a superior controller, then the first human also needed a superior controller. This first mover is the Unmoved Mover, called God.
Causation Of Existence
There is a creator that created us, the people. And this is God. God is not a creation, but was there since who knows when. God is endless, thus creating endless human beings. Therefore, there must be an uncaused first cause called God.
Contingent beings are caused and not every being can be contingent. There must exist a being which is necessary to cause contingent beings, this necessary being is God.
The Agrument From Degrees And Pefection
St. Thomas formulated this Way from a very interesting observation about the qualities of things. For example, one is beautiful than the other but not perfectly beautiful. This means that humans cannot attain the meaning of perfection, but only God is attaining the true meaning of perfection.
The Agrument From Intelligent Design
In this final way of St. Thomas, he refers to God as an “Intelligent designer”. He talks about how the universe, the planets, stars, sun, humans, and animals are made for an exact purpose for each life. They were made for a natural balance in nature’s harmony.
