Diarrhoea is a disease that involves frequent passing of loose or watery substances. It is the opposite of constipation and can be caused from many things.
Who can get Diarrhoea?

Can Diarrhoea be deadly?
Diarrhoea can be caused by bacteria or viruses that have been transmitted from person to person. One of the main causes for Diarrhoea is drinking contaminated water because it carries a lot of bacteria and harmful substances.

Some symptoms of Diarrhoea are:
°Cramping °Abdominal pain °Bloating
°Nausea °Need to use the washroom constantly °Fever °Bloody stools °Dehydration
Dehydration is one of the most serious symptoms of Diarrhoea. A way to tell if you have dehydration is if you get thirsty way too often & get really dry skin.
To prevent getting Diarrhoea is basically the opposite of the causes. If it is caused by bacteria and contaminated water, you're best bet is to not consume those things. In some third world countries that may be their only option for water and that is why this disease is very common in those places.
Some things you can do to help treat diarrhoea are...
- drink lots of fluids and stay hydrated
- eat as soon as you can
- take painkillers
- try medicines like PEPTO BISMOL
Diarrhoea is the second most common cause of death in young children, after pneumonia. It kills more than 1.5 million children under 5 years of age every year,
Diarrhoea can last up to 3 months!
The average person 10 or more years of age will get Diarrhoea 3-4 times a year in Kenya.
